I don’t want to pile on because this guy has been through a lot and I don’t doubt he gave everything he had to the team, but I just don’t think he’s an NHL quality player anymore.

Was a great great player for a couple years. I think he also serves as a reminder that signing old FA defensive defensemen to big long contracts is a risky endeavour. (Pesce for example)

It’s too bad, he had some really good years with us. All the best TJ, thanks for giving it your all for the blue and white!
Slow-Juice-7257
He had a rough go with his dad dying. Wish him the best and I think a team will sign him despite his struggles. Generally though that was a solid contract signed despite this past season
Sad_Donut_7902
considering he was scratched for the end of the regular season and almost all of the playoffs that is not surprising. That said he was still great here for a long time.

The drop-off was steep for TJ but he played hard and gave us everything he had left in the tank. Can’t knock him.

I hope our fan base doesn’t forget how solid he was during his first 3 years. He was that player you’d never hear about because he was that defensively reliable. Never made the headlines but did his job and was arguably our best defensive defensemen.

He’ll go to Utah and be their #1. All the best TJ

Ah, I miss when this guy could break up 2 on 1 rushes with his eyes closed.

Maaan people have such short memories. Dude was an absolute stud for most of his contract.

Loved brodes but yeah especially this season he was brutal.
I’ll never forget when he scored the 2nd goal against Montreal to tie it up in game 6 after being down 0-2, only to lose in OT because of Travis Dermott.
Sativatoshi
At least he got to steal 70 away from Auston

Shocking news.

Is someone really going to pay him? I think you’d have to take into account a lot of little things that we don’t get to see but I wouldn’t mind throwing a min contract at him to see if he can bounce back from all the shirt the went through this year
TheCarrier89
Was a dependable D man for us who was maybe one of the most elite players I’ve ever seen at disrupting 2 on 1’s. Seems like Father Time has caught up to him though, wish him the best.
People are too quick to forget that he was our best defensive dman for at least 2 years, hope he finds a place and has a rebound season

Brodie fell off a cliff this year. But the decline seemed more mental than anything else given his personal situation. He’s only 33. No nagging injuries that we were aware of. I’m guessing he’ll rebound. Maybe in a big way.
I’m amazed at the way a lot of people here turned on him this season. And even here in this thread. Guy was a rock for a number of seasons for the Leafs. Deserves more respect than he’s been getting. But that’s what this schizoid fanbase is all about. Love or hate, depending on the score of each game and sometimes even each period. It’s gotta really wear on a person.

He was excellent and our best defenceman for most of his contract. Thanks and all the best are the only things people should be saying.

shocking
Thanks for the time, TJ.

Fantastic signing overall, definitely exceeded expectations
