  1. Berube was the best out of a relatively weak crop of potential hires. Leafs really need someone like DeBoer, Torts or Laviolette, but of course all of those guys are off market. Leafs are roadkill regardless until they can jettison at least two of their terrible contracts and use those funds to build a playoff competitive roster. If they get there and if Berube still is there they'd have as good a chance as any other squad. Berube does have a Cup win on his resume.

The Leafs somehow lose their system and structure both in the regular season and especially in playoffs, if you watch the best teams play in the playoffs the they almost never lose their system and structure. The Leafs need better players able to play a man to man system, their gaps are HORRIBLE! and give the opposition way to much time and space all over the ice. They need to be more proactive and less reactive.
