What did you think of Elias Pettersson’s Game 5?

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson stepping up to lead the Canucks to victory over the Oilers to take the 3-2 series lead, if Edmonton should go back to Calvin Pickard for Game 6, Vancouver’s penalty kill coming up big, and what the Oilers need to do to avoid elimination.

  1. Definitely better than perviously, but he still killed our power play with turnovers multiple times. Gonna take a lot more to justify that contract

  2. Pickard was excellent but the canucks shooting was off so we'll see if this continues or ? It does seem each team takes a breather in the game following a win

  3. I'm delighted to be a huge Craig Button fan – his learned observations, knowledge and ability to explain the complex organic nuances of a play in a method that makes it plain for everyone to understand? That's why he's a teacher, a mentor and a genuine hockey genius. GO CANUCKS GO! 🤟🦄✨♥️

  4. If Pettersson carries his play over to Saturday, Edmonton will have their hands full. McDavid and Driasaitl can only carry the team so far and on Saturday, if the Canucks continue to play the way they played tonight, it'll be game over for the Oilers.

  5. Unsung hero for the Canucks Rick Tocchet. He fostered an atmosphere of trust and respect with the players over the season so that when he publicly called them out after game four they took it to heart. Then he made some genius lineup adjustments. He took out forwards Lafferty, Mikhaev and Linus Karlssen and put in Hoglander, Podkozin, and Giuseppe. That traded speed for grit and sandpaper. Then he put Pettersen with Lindholm and reunited the line of Garland, Joshua and Blueger. Once the game got into a flow the Canucks took over and gave the Oilers no room to get going. It seemed like just a matter of time until they scored and they finally did.

  6. did anyone else see Draisatle lose his cool as he walked in the tunnel from the bench to the dressing room after the game? This loss got to him

  7. I hope he can step it up a bit more now . He has a tendency to hold up when a hit is coming . He has been. Invisible on the PP . He shouid be getting points every game . Unfortunately reminds me of Marner in a lot of ways so if he can buy in more he could help the Canucks win this series .

  8. Miller definitely made up for the last game. Excellent preesure on pks. Though Cole is trying his best to hand this series to Oilers 😅.

  9. How does Pettersson get a 'charging' penalty nearly standing still. Officiating needs attention. Got to be able to challenge some of these calls. Millar was great.

  10. Hronek. I would also like to mention how fucking nasssssssty Hronek looked last night. Absolutely on his horse all game. It was like early season Hronek.

  11. Pette was huge defensively. As a canucks fan i think they should start skinner…. he's clearly the better goalie from the canucks perspective. That drisidle guy is washed too, they should scratch him 😉
