When a big hit goes VERY wrong

Noah Juulsen stepped up to make a big hit at the end of the second period of game 4 and it cost the Canucks. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. I know somebody who's a happy camper! Rangers 4 straight goals to finally look like a playoff team. They will need to smarter up if they want to beat the Panthers!

    Happy for you, Eck.

(yeah, this post doesn't belong here for this video, but since there's no DM function, it's the best i could do)

  2. how is getting a lucky deflection "finally figuring him(pickard) out" lol

second note- swedish hockey players dont seem to be built for playoffs.. ill never forget how garbage the Sedin twins were in playoffs.. Its like they only have one gear with no extra playoff effort. Same goes for petterson. just casual af. . doesnt really care.

  3. As an Edmontonian living in New Brunswick, my sleep schedule is like a reverse hockey parent…

  4. OH cmon you commit in CHEL to a big hit in EASHL the same thing happens. If you reallyplayed this you would know

  5. You're looking at the reason Juulsen has been a healthy scratch and is only in there because soucy had to sit one. While i love the hits the lad doesnt always pick his moments properly.

  6. canuck fan here who just finished watching game 5, Pickard is playing amazingly! funny how neither team has their starters, playing with goalies who have never played in the playoffs and both are playing great. I'm happy for both goalies! the games themselves have been a heart attack waiting to happen and I'm sure oilers fans would agree!

  7. It's been a repeated issue for Juulsen this year. He's improved ASTRONOMICALLY as a defenseman since the season started–he looked completely out of his depth in the NHL and was a perfect demonstration of an AHL defenseman not ready for the callup early in the season. I was scared every time he touched the puck. But he got better each and every game over the season, turning from what looked like a bottom 6 AHL defenseman to a legit 3rd pairing NHL defenseman. Incredible to see someone develop like that over such a short time.

But he still has that one issue where he randomly gets tunnel vision on a guy and locks in for a big hit that takes him out of the play. It killed us in a game against Winnipeg in February, where it was almost a carbon copy of the play tonight except it was against the boards rather than at the blue line. Juulsen tunnels on a guy for a big hit, levels him, but the puck has already moved away right before contact and Juulsen's out of the play as well as his target. Brutal.

Ian Cole's been genuinely cursed this series but at least he seems to have regained a little bit of his composure in Game 5. If he collapses again I wouldn't be opposed to Tocchet giving Juulsen another shot. He's shown his adaptability.

  8. Why are you guys still talking about game 4? The Oilers just got outplayed by the Canucks. I guess you Oilers fans have nothing to comment about.

  9. This truly is the best time of year. My wife and I just turn on the tv and it's hockey all evening, every evening. We didn't see this one though, We're east coast and the Rangers game sucked all of the life out of me.

  10. How bout those Rangers tho, eh? I didn't get to see the game, just followed highlights on my Score app. You gotta do a video on last night's game, silence all the naysayers and whiners!
