Jamie Benn hit Devon Toews behind the net. The play was reviewed and deemed no penalty at all. Did they get it right? Have your say!

  1. It was a blind side hit he was trying to hurt him, but almost completely legal. It was charging. 3 strides and he may not have had that much speed but teows was standing still with his head down. Benn knew exactly what he was doing. By the rule book after the review it should have been charging.

  2. Charging. Distance travelled, left his feet, violently checked… but this is the NHL playoffs, and for some reason Benn gets the benefit of the doubt far too often.

  3. Weird hit. I actually don’t think Benn hits Toews in the head, even though he does kinda jump into it (his back skate comes off the ice just prior to contact, and watch his knees – he starts low and extends upwards into contact). He makes high contact, but I think it’s primarily shoulder to chest/shoulder. The worst part of this hit is how Toews collided with Johnston afterwards – that looks rough. I could see a minor penalty on this play, for whatever you want to call, but I don’t think there should be any more than that. It’s just an unfortunate outcome.
