Five years ago today we saw the infamous hand pass game. St. Louis would fire off 3 straight wins and outscore SJ 12-2 to close out the series. The Blues would go on to win the cup. The Sharks have not won a single playoff game since.

Damn I remember being at this game and being so confused/upset. Chief came out after and set the tone that what’s done is done and it’s time to move on. That was stone cold.

After going deep in the playoffs in prior years and losing to the Sharks that “non-reviewable” hand pass was a gut punch. I knew the next game we were going to come out determined and ready to set the tone. Sharks fans called us goons, but that’s playoff hockey grinding down your opponent until they can’t stop your forecheck.
I wish our team now had half the grit our 2019 roster had.

Can’t believe this was 5 years ago. Been through a few super bowls in KC since then but nothing compares to this run. Can’t wait to be back at the Blue Line watching the next deep playoff run.
This-Is-Exhausting
The Blues bouncing back and winning the next game was the first time that year I allowed myself to believe the Stanley Cup was possible. Any other year, the frustration of that hand pass would have killed any momentum the Blues had akin to the Steve Bartman incident for the Cubs. Seeing them come out the very next game and take care of business was a side of a Blues team I had never seen to that point.
