  1. I think Val is an opportunity for fans to recognize the dangers of warrior culture, especially this happening in the playoffs again.

I take the longer timeline view. Val battled through a foot injury last year (because Landy was out or because hockey player?). The NHL has known issues with painkillers and injuries. Fans talk about that like it's some distant past, when it's happening to someone on the Avs currently.

Look back at interviews at the beginning of the season, Cale and Nate both said some version of "We are just happy he is happy", Bednar said the same after the game, Val is dealing with a mental health issue. Substance abuse is a symptom of other problems, doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Now look at video of Val celebrating during the Cup win. He's so excited, but another player tells him he doesn't get to take the Cup to Russia.

Think of everyone you know with a mental health issue and the importance of support and a change of scenery. Because of the ongoing war, Val can't get support from home and even talking positively about his home can be complicated.

Concussions aren't the only health effects from coming back from an injury too soon. Battling through pain with painkillers is clearly still a problem in the NHL.

  2. This is another great guest! Love what y'all have become! Keep it up!
Edit: Sending love to Val, and I hope he gets out of this someday.

  3. Meghan at the end there was severely reconsidering her career choices ☠️ our super chats have destroyed her guys ☠️

  4. Stop worrying bout forcing game 7.Like the Nugs after game 2-step 1 is showing some pride,& fight…step 2 find a way to steal tomorrow. Probably gonna end tomorrow anyways-just to much to overcome with Nuke-but worrying bout forcing game 7 before game 5 is annoying,& flat out premature,& foolish-with all due respect.

I just hope they can force a game 6 for us employees to work-like the Nugs after game 2-ya hope that garbage isn't the lack time they are at Ball-whatever happens after that. If ya win tomorrow-who knows…losing Nuke longterm is too much to overcome my opinion.

You can sometimes overcome it in small sample size. But just forcing a game 6 would be a great start,& prove a lot about their character & fight. Anything beyond that is just ridiculous to try to map out-especially after that abomination & terrible night last night all around.

  5. If the avs come back from this and even lose a game 7 I will be shocked. If they win the series I will be utterly shocked. Iv already vented about Val so all I will say is I wish him well but man you fcked us. TWICE that we even know of.

  6. For the love of god – Tiff – please fix the high pitched microphone feedback. I have tinnitus and hearing a different high pitched tone whenever the boys talk into their mics makes me want to peel my face off

  7. The Great One – still an icon. Loved his answers to your questions, very clear that he keeps up with the Avalanche players and the NHL at large.

  8. I feel for Val. Addiction is a legit disease, and I hope he finds the strength to turn his life around.

On the other hand, I'm extremely disappointed in him. The way the organization, his teammates, and Avs fans stood by him and offered him the support he received, not only after the playoffs but when he went into the PAP during the season, only for him to make the same mistake again… I will have a hard time trusting him again, it's gotta be worse for the team.

  9. Thanks for the great coverage of Val, its hard to get info. I take a slightly different view. Three strikes and your out. He seriously screwed the team and his future , and twice in the playoffs at that. They also HAVE to move on from him. Take that six million and get another guy and we regroup and make another run

  10. I'm sorry, but I am sick and tired of this tip-toeing around Val, and feeling obligated to express only sympathy. Like yes, do I feel for the guy? Absolutely. I really do. And I truly hope he gets the help he needs. But this Avs organization has been nothing but supportive and helpful in assisting his addictions, and yet for the second year in a row, choices made by him completely rip the wind out of the sails for his teammates. Just absolutely sabotages his team. In the playoffs no less.

I truly wish the guy well, and I wish him a happy and healthy life, but I don't know how you just go back to the status quo 6 months from now, especially if the Avs lose this series (which they probably will). Like how does anyone on this team trust him again? Especially guys like Mac who's work ethic and expectations are so high? And frankly I think that is 100% a perfectly reasonable reaction.

  11. Sorry guys, I understand that you run a business and that this is a difficult situation, but a segment on addiction and its consequences is not the place for an ad read on gummies. Love and respect

  12. This was awesome. When ppl,- opposing team trolls rip on Eric, they obviously haven’t seen this side of him. Good guy. Great pod thanks

  13. NHL is not a Rehab clinic, and NHL teams are not emotionel support groups. Teams should be able to terminate a job contract when there are clear breaches. it should not be on the team or NHL to fix these broken people, unless they ask for the help themself. You can not help someone that don't want to be helped, it's just a waste of time.

  14. From where you started to where you are. Holy shiz. Killing it. You've climbed Mount Everest and found the Holy Grail. Well done crew.
