When the offense only scores 2 goals a game… and you are paying your entire cap on offensive players… that is the problem. That money invested into a goalie, that money invested into better defense might let you win by scoring 2 goals. But how can you win only scoring 2 goals with the offensive players on the team. Marner, bye. Tavares, try and trade but that contract is so bad.
Sick of hearing Leafs Garbage
Leafs have always suffered with goaltending. They're completely inept. And past goalies they could've drafted and won them a cup, they traded away for scraps. They need a franchise goalie.

The stark contrast between say the Leafs goaltending compared to say the Canucks is staggering. The Canucks won games with their backup & their 3rd string guy with both playing really well. The Leafs simply don't have it, they have to break up the big 4 or they aren't going anywhere. They've had 8 chances to do well in the playoffs and have nothing to show for it.
Samsonov should have just standing there and not going down and he would have saved the puck
Winning the Stanley Cup starts from net out. Samsanov is unreliable and really has always been. I guess consistency is what's missing and don't tell me it doesn't get in the players heads. Martin Jones was the real Leafs highlight this year and saved them. Put him in the lineup for game 5 and watch the Leafs play differently.

is Matthews ok? not even as a fan but as a human. Is anybody else worried for the man? Maybe a sudden illness that keeps him out of the playoffs doesn't mean that he isn't a manly man man man bullshit but that he actually needs to take care of himself?
Bring back Sansonov in the fifth game at Boston and I promesse you that he will goal the game of his life in 2-1 win for the Leafs up to the Stanley cup.
Sammy should be allowed to wear the Leafs jersey again. No heart. Team needs to start Woll if they believe he is the future goalie otherwise if they start Sammy they showing they give up
Your not the avs team that won the cup. you can’t out score your opponents in playoffs because your stars go missing. Every year I’ve said to my leaf buddys your goaltending scares me if you ever need them to steal you a game or two or even a series. Boston has 2 that can do that. I watched the penguins go 37:09 without a shot and win the game cause Matt Murray stood on his head. Say what you will because his tenure in TO and OTT wasn’t great but he stole us multiple games in those back to back seasons.
This is just classic Toronto scapegoating. They throw the goalie and/or coach under the bus and that’s their so called “solution” to all of their failures.
Can’t win if you can’t score boys. The numbers speak for themselves.

The core of this team has been the only constant in the last 8 seasons. These guys become GHOSTS when the games MATTER. Blow it up and let teams that have heart in the postseason earn their keep while you reset.
@6:22 – this is basically the Leafs play style in a nutshell. They're TERRIFIED of letting a shot go on net, because they've lost confidence in Sammy again. They overhandle on the PP, because the don't want to lose possession and have it go the other way – they don't want to dump and chase because they ALWAYS need to be in position to counter the turnaround. They're not confident that they've got a competent goalkeeper backing them up if they make a risky move.
Game 3; Samsonov threw his stick at Heinen for whatever reason, and in return right thereafter Marchand is rewarded a goal. Hate how many of the Leafs go to bat for him. This guy blows. Good riddance.

Ullmark & Markstrom are both trade targets who the Leafs can trade for
Markstrom’s asking price at the Trade Deadline was rumoured to be pretty low too
A 1st & 3rd rounder should get it done. The Leafs could get Markstrom at the Draft for their 1st rounder, 4th rounder & a decent prospect
A great goalie not winning the Stanley Cup has very little to do with whether he was a great goalie. In fact you can have a great team….and a great goalie and it's about timing whether that goalie wins a Cup. Its hard to win the Cup. Henrik Lundqvist's best teammates on the other end of the ice were Jagr at an age of old….Rick Nash who never scored like crazy and Mats Zuccarello. If Hank had this current team i think he would win a cup. Period. Period.
And he's vastly better than Carey Price but that's another conversation.
As for great goalies i actually think there are more high quality goalies across the league now than maybe ever. Maybe the top tier isnt at the level of a Hasek, Roy, Belfour…but the better teams have quality goalies.
Leafs averages 1 goal a game for the playoffs and the fans are all hurr durr blame the goalie. Domt balme the almost 70 goal scoreer who doesnt show up or the Captain doesnt play with heart
The leafs are seeing what the caps saw years ago in Sammy. So much potential, but never living up to it

Adam is so wrong that defense has lways screwed up when they give up a shot, I was a goalie, just about every team I played on planned to just keep shots to the outside, if I gave one up from outside the slot that was my fault, if we gave one up from the slot that was the defenses fault. If you can count on your goalie to make a stop, it's not complicated it's just playing like a team and not a bunch of individuals like the leafs do.
Makes me feel good as a Blues fan that we have a good goalie tandem. Knowing that if they make the playoffs they have a good chance no matter who they play because of their goalies.
The bench incident is showing who the true leaders are.. they told Marner to quit whining & be a man.

Sammy started another one of his health upsets 2 games before the playoffs. Sammy has been average in the playoffs – but why didn’t they use one of the other Leaf Goaltender, seeing Sammy’s health patterns.
The Leaf goalies are basically all the same – but all the Leaf cap money has been spent on the Core 4 forwards. 😀
I'm the same as Adam. The next day after games like this I'm too "depressed" to watch Steve's LFR, but then I eventually do and he always makes it somehow better! And then I fart. Ha!
Sammy's confidence got rocked when keefe played woll against Boston instead of him, he slowly got worse, he knows that they want woll as number one and not him, was another stupid decision by keefe, why would he not play the hot hand and play the guy fresh of injury against the top team in the east at the time, he screwed up both goalies confidence actually cause woll has not been the same either
Goaltending isnt bad, the leafs cant score with their super stars

If Vegas had Sammy instead of Hill last year, they probably still win that cup. Just saying.
Matt Murray is also a UFA. Along with the players mentioned including Muzzin. Trade Marner and suddenly a lot of cap space opens up. Next season suddenly looks very positive if the right moves are made. Add a new coach. Matthews as the new captain.
Your crazy if you let a goalie like Sammy.. you need good goalies..
Watch him leave and become the next Freddy Anderson lol
