This call was actually disgraceful

Game 3 Boston Bruins vs the Florida Panthers in the NHL playoffs second round just happened, and included a very controversial goal call. I’ll break it down on today’s video!

  1. The question is, if you think about the rule holistically…
Did the contact have no discernable effect on the play whatsoever?

  2. The situation room makes it up case by case. They contradict themselves game by game. The only consistent thing is that they aren’t consistent.

  3. Maybe it came down to whether or not the goalkeeper was free to move prior to the push.

  4. Yeah…. the Kings had this exact scenario play out against the Canucks about 12 years ago. One of the Sedins cross-checked a Kings D-man (I believe it was Doughty if I remember correctly) into Quick, and then jumped on the loose puck and scored. Same exact outcome, no penalty, goal counted. In a perfect world, yea, the goal is at minimum disallowed, but the refs have been pretty bad all year.

  5. I disagree, Eck. Coyle (who is considered the attacking player because he was pushed) impedes Swayman’s movement after the initial shot, on the rebound. Swayman and Coyle simultaneously attempt to play the loose rebounded puck, so the 69.7 exception applies. It’s a good goal.

  6. I respectfully disagree. Bennett barely touched Coyle, and notice how he is already going in the direction of Swayman when they make contact – this becomes more evident when you look at the video in real time, slo-mo tends to make things look far more dramatic than they actually are. That's just a good hard battle infront of the net for a loose puck, if we're going to call that weak ass shit a goaltender interference might as well prohibit any contact whatsoever, put on some bra's and call it Sarcastapuck or something. I don't like NHL officiating as much as the next guy, mostly because it's incosistent, but this call I actually love. And no, I'm not a Panthers fan nor am I a Bruins hater. Oh and BTW, there's a very good chance Boston loses anyway, I don't think you get to bitch about officiating when the shots are 41-18.

  7. I think it’s dumb, but I also think it’s dumb to bitch about one call and not the entirety of how reffing is done in the NHL. They really need to stop letting refs be part of the game in the sense that they get so much discretion to make calls. Half the fucking time calls just get made to make up for bad calls and that’s not acceptable. It’s especially not acceptable in the playoffs that the rules get more lenient. It should be the fucking opposite. Otherwise bad teams who play agressive styles are rewarded while the more skilled teams are inherently being punished. It just ends up feeling like American cops who can shoot you and steal your shit and then get away with it because “they’re the law” and you have to listen to every last little command they give no matter how retarded or wrong. Because the worst thing you can actually do, is offend the authority figures. That makes them feel weak. Can’t have that.

  8. I'll still be rooting for Florida, but I fully agree this was a missed call and a pretty bad one. And if they somehow lose the 3-1 lead like the Bruins did last year, I can call that karma. Nonetheless, Florida played better and deserved to win, ig.

  9. I might've missed a video, but did anyone cover how the Bruins' player in game 3 was interfered with and pushed into Bobrovsky and the refs called a goaltender interference penalty against Boston?

  10. As a die hard Panthers fan, this is definitely goaltender interference. I totally expected the challenge to be successful.

  11. It's the Bruins. The rattiest ratfuckers in the league for a decade or more. I simply can't be bothered enough to give a shit.

  12. even VAR turned to be helpless to avoid ref misjudgments in soccer. You should play considering the ref's blindness, no complains

  13. Bruins fans citing the rule book as if they haven’t been absolute menaces for the past 15 years.

You reap what you sow guys.

    Still a bad call. 🤷‍♂️

  14. All I hear are the Bruins and the Bruins coach crying about officiating. Do you see the Panthers crying about the bad officiating? Did you see any call on David Pastornak for double hand chopping Barkov's hands an wrist trying to injure him when he scored his goal in tonight's game. No, and did you see Barkov crying about it? Shut up and play it happens to both teams. We just see which team really just puts it to the side and keeps playing. Bruins are one of the dirtiest playing teams that get away with a lot of crap. They have nothing to say then. But when it goes against them all they wanna do is cry.

  15. Carey price was dragged out of his net by a rangers player and it was ruled not goaltender interference.

That was the day i gave up on even pretending to know what GI is.

  16. easy good goal because playoff hockey, that everyone loves so much, everyone just ignoring the rule book is so fun right?
