On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, we take a look at the lack of offensive production from players like Roope Hintz, Joe Pavelski, Tyler Seguin and Matt Duchene. After game one, Pete DeBoer mentioned they are waiting for some of their scorers to find the scoresheet for over a series now. DeBoer has changed up the lines a few times throughout the postseason to spark things, but the remaining constant has been Wyatt Johnston. Who else can the Stars rely on to give them a boost against a dangerous Avalanche team. In the second segment, Joey asks how the Stars can attack the big trio for Colorado including Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantannan who had muti point nights in game one. Maybe it’s time Chris Tanev and Esa Lindell are called upon to play more minutes and match up head to head against the top players of the Avs. To wrap up the episode, Joey gives his keys to game two for the Stars. Dallas looks to level the series tonight before heading to Denver for game three on Saturday.

Great analysis Joey; love your energy and how you find balance with some positives. It was pretty disheartening to see the Stars blew a 3 goal lead, not looking like a Cup contender. They need to either stay out of the penalty box or learn how to kill them without giving up goals. Game should never have gone past 3-1 for Stars. Impressed with Sequins efforts, winning face offs, hits and shots on goal, sadly the shots just didn’t go in. As an Avs fan.. here is my unbiased comparisons.
Goalie: Stars
Top 6: Avs
Bottom 6: Stars
Defense: Avs (mainly because the Makar/Toews pairing but also because yall are rolling 5D.. which is rough to do)
Faceoffs: Stars 100000% (which is a HUGE category to win.. so many more possessions)
Special teams: id be fair and call it a tie. Id say it's pretty evenly matched
Overall id say it's a pretty even matchup. We have the higher talent on the top end, yall have the depth on the bottom end and a better goalie. And yall can win a faceoff. Whatcha think? Accurate?
Don’t bet on holding the Avs to a goal or two. They’re AVERAGING 5 goals a game for the playoffs, which is insane. Score early and sustain pressure, stay out of the box, and no turnovers is about the only way the Stars will win.
