[Lingan] Preds HC Andrew Brunette says this was only the second time in his career that he left a best of 7 series and wasn’t convinced that the best team won

Was he on the way to another golf cart dui?

  2. metrichustle

Your team didn’t win once on home ice

The series only went to 6 games and we only had our starting goalie for the first game, wtf is he talking about…

  4. g0kartmozart

Is the other one the other series he lost?

Honestly a pretty pathetic statement to be making, especially when you were playing against the 3rd string goalie and got the vast majority of the power plays in the series.

  5. “If I had a nickel for every time I left a best of 7 series and wasn’t convinced that the best team won… I’d still be an idiot.”

    -Brunette, probably

  6. _CoconutsGo

It’s a simple concept really. If you win the series you are the best team. End. Of. Story.

  7. NinCross

Lauzon and Brunette just took the biggest L’s this series.

  8. Still considered an Underdog AFTER winning the series. Got to love it !

Huh. They must’ve had a bad coach then. Maybe they should fire him.

Everybody just piling on, eh? Canucks are getting no respect. My God, they better come out flying tomorrow and shut everybody the fuck up.

Which team got shut out by the AHL 3rd string, Andrew? Dude must have blacked out after the first two periods of the series.

  12. Should the NHL have the Canucks and Preds redo their series in case it was a big fluke?

No disrespect to the Canucks, I’m a firm believer that Vancouver beating them is a huge fluke and robs the Preds of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I’ve spent the last few days in pure disbelief and it just doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve spent the entire regular season watching the Preds play great hockey it’s just not fair.

If the Preds lose again I will face that the Canucks deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Preds and the NHL.

They lost in 6 to a team that was forced to start three different goaltenders. He can think whatever he likes but he’s wrong.

  14. Paulie-Walnuts28

Welp some people just cope with being wrong I guess

We didnt blow them because we play honest hockey.. pretty much all season… we matches what are opponent give us.. that’s why our PDO is crazy…we dont play cheat hockey.. we grind..

I dont know who Jamie Vinnick is but they sum it up real good as well. Demko played 60mins, Petey didnt score JT had 1 goal and the Canucks won in 6. So Yeah. I think that would have been a real good follow up question How do you prove that given the information that has just been given to you?

There’s Travis Green and then there’s Andrew Brunette

I really hope that we beat the Oilers. The trash, “they aren’t that good” I am hearing from every pundit and even fans of our team is depressing. Goddamn Nashville was one of the best teams in the league the last 1/4 of the season.

I don’t think we played remotely close to our full potential that series, and while a lot of that was due to their defence it was also just due to a few injuries and clearly a lingering issue with Petey.

They played at 100% and didn’t even take us to 7. Even if we got pretty lucky in game 5 they were lucky at all that we had our third string goalie out there and that we didn’t even look half as good as did during the regular season for half the games.

Overall I’d say the teams PLAYED on par, but we were 70% of who we could have been while they were at 100.

  20. It was a weird series, game 2 should have been ours and game 4 should have been theirs. We won in the end, that’s all that matters.

  21. Redlight0516

The fact they got to 6 games is a testament to Brunette’s coaching but if your entire strategy is “Hang on for dear life and hope we get lucky with some bounces” you probably are not the better team.

You lost to a 3rd string goaltender with your first stringer standing on his head. You were not the better team.

  22. Lunaticfrizz16

    I think the
Preds lost their “better team this series” card when they gave up a 3-1 lead with 4 minutes to go

  23. Young2k04

We had to play THREE goalies and had half the power plays and still won. There’s no moral victories in the playoffs

  24. kernelcolonel

He lost the games he should have and he lost the games he shouldn’t have. How the fuck can you hang your hat on any of that? Your team literally couldn’t score a goal to save your season, on home ice, *against the third stringer*??

  25. I’m convinced if the Canucks win the cup this year the entire hockey world will call it a fluke and blame it on 10 different things and give them no credit lmao. Never seen a top team get this much disrespect.
