  1. Gotta give credit to Nashville they close up the slot and any shooting lane in their own zone. Nothing gets through to the net. the Canucks had all the chances in game 2 and they just didnt go in, this was just a reverse of that.

  2. Shots can be a function of style. If you go up on the board, then that triggers your coaches defensive scheme. The other team will get shots the rest of the game, while you may not even be pushing for goals except on the PP.

  3. The canucks didnt deserve to win this game? If you can score 2 goals on 9 shots thats well deserving of a win.

  4. People criticize Casey DeSmith's rebound control, but what they forget is that the Predators were intentionally shooting for rebounds a lot of the game. DeSmith was just kicking the puck to the right places (as opposed to right in the slot) and the defence were collapsing back so they could be in the right spot to get the puck. It's not just skill, it's communication and having a game plan. The Canucks skaters knew where to be and DeSmith got it to them. He was so good that the Preds felt they needed to run him and hurt him to get anything by him. The Canucks faced this with Luongo when they played Chicago over a decade ago and Byfuglien would literally sit on Luongo during PPs and they constantly crashed the net with immunity. Suddenly interference on the goalie wasn't a thing. Fortunately, this was so blatant that the refs had to call it. You can't body check the goaltender when he's playing the puck behind his net. That's never been a thing. I just hate the delay of game penalty and always have. When it was just the goalie who got called, it was bad enough. I know why the league does it. They want to increase scoring. But shooting the puck out of play by accident isn't about gaining an advantage, cheating or trying to hurt your opponent. It's about trying to shoot the puck out of the zone and it goes out. That shouldn't be a penalty for a goalie or a skater. If goals are down, maybe put the blame where it belongs, on the rule changes since the 90s and expansion.

  5. It was a lucky night for DeSmith. He wasn’t the reason they won, it was the team in front of him blocking 28 shots. They squeaked by in the last 2 minutes. Im not putting DeSmith on a pedestal after 1 lucky game.

  6. Pettersson is not providing anywhere near the value of the contract he's been given. Dude needs to step up and play, he's practically invisible most games recently.

  7. That first game was horrible he cheated the wrong side both first 2 goals and the last goal was juicy rebound in front of him granted it was Petteys give away BUT

THIS GAME WAS ALLLLLLL DESMITH I SAW EARLY SEASON DESMITH HES ON GAME TIME RN

  8. I think the shots in this game were pretty deceiving. At one point they were 7-6 Vancouver. The first 25-30 minutes of the game were almost even. As soon as Vancouver got that second goal they shut down their offense entirely and went completely into defense mode. So I don't know if it was so much Nashville outplaying Vancouver as Vancouver's tactical strategy. That said I think that strategy was a mistake. 2-0 with your back-up in net is a very risky lead to shut down your offensive game totally and turtle up which is pretty much what they did. They were lucky to win like this and I hope they don't decide to lay back with a lead like this every game. A lot of times I don't think they get away with it.
