The Leafs should have obviously gotten some sort of boarding penalty. They got away with one there.
As usual , they are going to bring us all back to game 7 and then disappoint us again as usual. They’re making it sweet and all and then they’re going to take it all away and crush us all as they have historically done.
Can I just say this, I was listening to the post-show on the FAN, and man is Bunkis insufferable. He goes on this rant about how terrible Boston has played the last two games, the two worst games he’s seen Boston play back-to-back. Does he watch the games? They got goalied tonight. These were two very tight, very well played games. Yes they lost, but they were anything but bad. One team has to win, one team has to lose. The losing team isn’t defacto terrible. I should expect such trenchant analysis from a Sportsnet property but man was that some of the worst analysis I’ve ever heard. It was my mistake for tuning in, but I’m so used to listening to the fun, and sometimes insightful 1050 post-game, that I figured I’d give it a shot. I have only myself to blame.

This is season 1 of Friday Night Lights when Jason Street gets injured and they have to play without their superstar. Everyone elevated their game. Hitting hard and winning puck battles from the opening whistle until the final buzzer. That’s how you win a playoff game.

I’m a casual Leaf fan (aka I live in southern Ontario), and I hope all you diehards appreciate what a fucking spectacle franchise you have. I get it, they’re disappointing, but you can’t write better entertainment than The Leafs, and through both the joy and the sadness, your lives are more full because of it. So much that people like me wish we were fans like you. For games like tonight and series like these.

So what line does Matthews play on? Obviously if he is ready to go he is in. But that top line in playing too well to break up right now.
I kept expecting these guys to fall apart this game. That the frustration of not scoring and the PP would get to them. But they toughed it out.

The way the Leafs played in their own zone was absolutely spectacular. Very few dangerous chances, very clean breakouts, for all 6 D-men.
Oh boyyyyyyyy. That was some playoff hockey alright. The crowd was great, the boys played with heart, and it was so fantastic to see Boston play… errrrr…. like shiet. I have a good feeling if we carry this momentum and continue to play the way we did tonight that we will be taking this series on Saturday
