Leafs will win tonight. Mathews will be back for game 7 and they will get their asses kicked. Mathews is a self centered asshole who only wanted to play one more game to get his 70th goal. As long as the Leafs keep him they will lose. He is the Vladdy Guerero Jr of hockey.

Oilers guy here, one question I have is do you think that the team hiding the facts of illness/injury REALLY helps them that much? Like what is it strategically that the other team can do with the information that hurts you more than all the fans calling the player soft and running with all the speculation? Like in this situation, Boston knows there's something going on, and they were going to take runs at Matthews either way

Probably a million people have paid for tickets over the season to watch him, but Leafs management, Leafs medical personnel, and Matthew’s himself, NHLscoring leader, don’t feel the slightest obligation to the country’ hockey fans. matthews just doesn't seem like the kind of player you rely on in tough situations. he's a superstar that crumbles under pressure and isn't willing to sacrifice anything to get shit done. how many players have played through serious injuries in the playoffs in the past? or even right now?
truly great players are defined by what they do for their teams when it matters the most, even if they end up failing. he wasn't leading his team in any way before he got, "injured", and his team being more successful without him in the line-up speaks volumes. i guess you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. and maybe he really is seriously injured, but he was a ghost before it happened.
