Article by Kyle Fredrickson is not paywalled.

“WINNIPEG, Manitoba — The Avalanche celebrated their first-round playoff victory with the muted enthusiasm of a former champion.

    They’re not done yet.

“I’m super proud of the guys,” center Nathan MacKinnon said. “There’s a lot of work left to do.”

On Tuesday night, amid the roar of Winnipeg’s “whiteout” crowd, Colorado silenced Jets fans at Canada Life Centre with [a 6-3 victory in Game 5](https://denvergazette.com/sports/colorado-avalanche/avalanche-vs-jets-3-takeaways-from-colorados-game-5-win/article_78f76aec-0759-11ef-b992-a309df688caa.html) to clinch the series. Mikko Rantanen scored twice, including the game-winning goal, to break a scoreless drought to begin the postseason.

“I think that’s the best hockey we’ve played for five games in a row all season long,” coach Jared Bednar said. “That’s what it takes at this time of the year.”

The writing was on the wall.”

This is the correct attitude. Lots of good teams ahead. We either need to go through Dallas, Vegas, or Edmonton (sorry LA). Then, assuming you get through that, you get whoever comes out of the bloodbath of the east.

Going to be quite the few weeks.

Always the right mentality to have. There is always room for improvement, and that goes beyond just sports.

No shit, we outscored, outclassed and outplayed them and there were times that it still looked close in the first 2 periods of games.

Our early game still looks soft, like we are just waiting for the last 30 minutes to step on the gas. Buzzing in the last 15 minutes is great, but what happens when a team stacks 4 on us in the first because everyone looks like they’re recovering from last night’s activities?

I know we’re a great team and a lot of the core is looking like the team from 2 years ago, but the Jets were a young, inexperienced team. My fear is going up against a team that has more playoff grit and presses us in the first portion of the game and we can’t pay back the softies that we let in on the first minutes of play.
