Cates sophomore slump I think
2026 is the BIG FA year for the NHL therefore the next two years should be mean to clear all the rift-raft money in order to have the biggest CAP SPACE that year and that is when to strike!!! The next two years should be to develop the young players and to draft well given the 8 picks in the first 2 rds the next 2 drafts to develop the future nucleus too surround Michkov with because unlike Lindros whereby they did not have to mortgage their entire farm in order to get him and we saw it took years for #88 to get any help around him to make them serious contenders other than one line (Crazy 8s then LOD)… So please drop the nonsense FA talks UNLESS it's 1-2 years ONLY!!! I feel Danny views it the way I do thanks God for that!!!
Btw if Edmonton does not win the cup the next two years and esp if Drysytl does not resign with the Oilers this offseason, guess who is available in '26??? Yes the center you desperately are seeking (i.e. #97) will be a FA and I am sure he would want to be the highest paid player along with going to a team that can afford him so its not a pipe dream if Danny puts us in position the next 24 months!!!
I would love to get Tavares – I think the Leafs would want to unload that contract, so I don't think you would need to give up too much. But yeah, I can't see him coming to Philly.
