A very simple and clear visual explanation for our failure. You will notice a clear common thread between winning and losing teams.

  1. Save percentage leaders too. Swayman first by a mile. Sammy near the bottom. Not as bad as Saros though

You guys just need to be patient. /s
    Sigh…..

    Yup.

Game Management means you CANNOT have playoff success without a good PP and PK.

Personally I believe a team SHOULD be able to simply stay out of the box if that’s their game, but the refs never call the game as they see it, they always try to even out penalties. Boston can take 4-5 penalties, and then the refs will even it out over the rest of the game regardless if you play clean. This is just the way it is.

The team is ass in so many ways I’m sure you could find lots of common threads.

Why did we keep Keefe when Cassidy or Laviolette were available. This is a joke.

For years the benchmark on special teams was adding your pk% and pp% together and if you were close or over 100% you were considered a very strong team.

Oilers just scored another pp goal. Big difference in any series. They have so many options that make them very unpredictable. We have no point shot and haven’t had a pp qb on the backend since Kaberle/McCabe days

Oh! I see it now. The winning teams has higher numbers under the W category

  9. 7% to league average is roughly like 1.5 PP goals, not too much

I think that’s the problem tho ultimately

The problem overall is like 10 different factors, none are huge but they really add up

Washington just got swept with a PP% almost double the leafs… ☠️

    Don’t worry, it’s still early.

Every year the blame goes on the goalies and the D but we don’t invest the kind of money for them to take the blame.

We pay 40 million+ on four forwards who always come short in the playoffs.

If only there was a history with only one of these goals.

Samsonov has a knack for killing our momentum. Legs pressing hard and Frederic takes a simple shot and now the momentum is dead and the Leafs are on their back foot again. Can’t wait for swayman to have one of these

  14. lpuckeri

    Yeah the PP is pathetic

Our special teams is impressively bad. Cant expect to win a series where you dont make them pay for mistakes.
