  1. Lane Hutson may very well be the most talented defensemen prospect in their 110+ year franchise history

  2. The theme song is great and all…but the main reason it hypes me up so much is because it means I'm watching a new episode of the notebook…pretty much the only full podcast/long form youtube vids I ever watch in full. Can't wait for next season!!

  3. Internal competition Marc doesn’t matter if your we’ll say Anderson or Gallagher making 5.5 or 6.5 million a year! Those guys with 3 years both left on their contracts won’t be going to the press box period! When the day comes where they have a year left on their contracts maybe.

  4. there's no rush habbies. don't make mistakes overpaying plateauing Ufas. with that said, going hard after young rfas would be smart akin to dach/newhook.

  5. About the one goal games, there were actually 5 more that you did not count. There were 5 games where the goal difference was 2 but it was because of a last minute empty net goal. These were really also one goal games. Not that it changes the discussion, it just shows how many close games there were.

  6. I'm no hockey analyst. Just a fan. But to me you are over analyzing what was said. The theme I got from listening to the players, coach and management is, we are unified (buy-in, culture, effort), we are confident and we will become more talented. This is consistent across the board. What else do you want to hear from a rebuilding team? Add to that they are creating trust with us that they are able to execute.

  7. There is a flaw with your analysis of the one goal games. Of course, the Canadiens will have a good record in one goal games. In fact, every team will have a good record in one goal games relative to their overall record for the same reason a team cannot have a record below .500 in games that go into overtime.

  8. It looked like Lane-dini was hypnotizing the two wings players dancing back and forth on the line and neither of them looked like they wanted anything to do with him lol he is magical. What a sweet 250,000 dollar tip by slaf he better pay up for the magic show hahah.

  9. My thoughts on this season:
1: Habs fans have more 'hope' than last yr cause some good things actually happened: a real #1 line was established .. Slafkovsky showing demonic powers on the ice, Suzuki is a bonafide #1 center .. young dMen (may not be superstars) but are very CAPABLE NHL dmen .. Hutson igniting everyone's expectations at the end
2: The Habs are sorely lacking 'talent' up front & in the Bottom 6 and w/ Monahan gone, next yr will be another battle of how much can the team win with only one line producing
3: The East is full of mediocre hockey teams so the pace of the 'rebuild' should be altered to adjust to that reality: mgmt has to be aggressive w/ trades & UFAs – I think they will
4: Team has no real goalies or at least no real #1 goalie so Fowler better be the man or we're gonna have to use $$ to sign a real goalie eventually.
5: Team couldn't be in better hands than w/ MSL .. young, offensive-minded team in the hands of someone not afraid to score a goal 🙂
6: Next year should be fun if half the team doesn't go down w/ injuries .. Go Habs Go!

  10. Great wrap on the season guys! Thanks for sharing. The Habs are exciting and fun now but next year looks to be a whole lot more of that!

  11. 260 is the magic number for mediocrity (bubble team). 260 GF and 260GA. Habs need to score an extra 25 goals and give up 25 goals less to become a bubble team.

From there, the next step to become elite would be to further that GF vs GA spread by another 50 pts.

  12. Josh Anderson has hit 40 points a single season in his whole career. This isn’t realistic expectation. He’s a 30ish point fringe third liner at best.

  13. Seriously Arpon, with respect enough about if if if. We missed the wild card spot by 15 pts and 91 pts was on the low side. This rebuild is far from over. We are 3 years away from competing for a playoff spot

  14. What do you think of signing Anthony Duclair to play 3rd line left wing, gritty 20+ goal scorer and he's a Montrealer?

  15. Pannerin and Fox might not be walking through the door, because they are already there. Slafkovski and Hutson

As far as one goal games this year. Of the 1 goal games they were involved in (44 I think), they lost 27 of them. 12 in regulation, 15 in OT/SO. If they win have of those losses, it puts 19 more points in the season total, giving them 95pts, good enough for the last wildcard spot.

  16. Could Patrik Laine be a trade target? A change to a coach like MSL might be what he needs. However the MTL media could be brutal if he doesn't get a strong start.
