Does Marner deserve criticism for play in Game 1 & 2?

Jay Onrait is joined by TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado to get his thoughts on whether Mitch Marner deserves criticism for his play in the first two games of the series against the Bruins, and if the Kings can find a way to contain Connor McDavid.

  1. It's been the same thing for Marner since the beginning. He lacks the intestinal fortitude to perform in the playoffs. Let's every criticism destroy his world. Needs to build some mental toughness if he ever wants to take the next step.

  2. im old school , im in my mid 50's…as a Leaf fan since 1979, all i want to see from Leaf players is effort, compete, sacrifice…not always points.. you can contribute to a playoff win without scoring, what you cant do is what Marner did in Gm2, and bail in the corner, you think Pat Burns would have let that slide? Cmon. i know times are different, I'm not naive to not see that, but fundamentals of any sport success has never changed. you work hard every play, one of my favorite all time quotes…"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" its that simple.

  3. He gave up inside position to the puck in the corner so he wouldn't need to take a hit to make the play….instead, the clown turned it over….DO NOT RE-SIGN THIS LOSER!!!

  4. Yup especially with his history of not showing up……its called accountability enough talk start walking the walk

  5. Watch the sequence for Marner at 1:50 in this video. He has a CLEAR line to the puck, to get there first, but decides to turn up ice to avoid a hit. He ends up losing the battle for the puck in the offensive zone and the B's break out cleanly. HE'S AFRAID.

  6. No, he does not. He likes to fart in the corner to get in the defenders nose and throw them off their game. That night, he didn't eat enough broccoli to get his fart game on point. Hopefully, he can rip some sick farts in game 3. Look out!!!!

  7. That play chasing the puck into the corner was almost as bad as Nylander when he doesn't even bother to try to get there. I thought Mitch wore 93 in junior as an homage to Dougie Gilmour, but Killer would have made the sacrifice to get to the puck. I really hope Mitch gets it together and starts playing playoff hockey.

  8. Being surprised that Marner isn't performing in the playoffs is like when the cartoon villian is always surprised when the hero of the cartoon shows up to stop him. Or being surprised that sun rises every morning.

  9. Absolutely! dude got payed so that opens him up to extreme criticism when he doesn't perform. Turns into a ghost every year in the playoffs, he needs to find another gear and quick.

  10. Marner is the 13th highest playoff point scorer in rhe close to 100 years of Leaf history. He has been rhe most important player on the team for the last 6 or 7 years.

  11. Marner is a pussy through and through since the Montreal series. Why we expecting anything different? He's just not built this way.

  12. So far Mitch marner is this generation Joe Thornton both of them put up a point per game or more during the regular season come playoff time both of them turn into ghosts

  13. Marner hasn’t been going since coming back from the injury, he’ll get back on track. He bleeds blue, quit roasting this guy…

  14. MM will leave Toronto when his contract is up. I don't blame him. He didn't ask to be put with interior players. Frank might be the worst anal-lyst on TSN. I am amazed MM is singled out. I'm sure Montreal would love him. As would Boston, NYI, Chicago (with Bedard look out), Detroit, Buffalo and others. Too many Leaf fans don't know wth they're talking about. Go MM. Go Leafs..

  15. 16 is soft. Bruins just need to hit hit hit all their top guys and they will shrink because none of them want to get hurt. Softer than pussy cat

  16. Re-sign Domi, Sign Bertuzzi sign a number ond defenseman with the money you were gonna use on Marner, try trading him. I know he has a no-moved clause in his contract, if he doesn't agree to do that, then let him walk. He can't play playoffs hockey and he's gonna be asking for 12.5 million and he's not worth anywhere close to that amount.

  17. His a 10+ million dollar player to get you into the playoffs for sure if your a struggling fringe team. But if your team can get in with or without him, then that 10m+ is baggage. I saw him 2-3 times in the game where he would give up possession instead of fighting for it on the boards. At least with Nylander we get the EURO hockey/ Playoff Hockey Nylander every year that we pray Matthews to be. He goes for the checks, board battles, and skates like someone lit a firecracker near his ass. Marner skates away from a teammate getting jumped, afraid of the boards, can't do his passes because the game has become tighter. So what use is a passer that can't pass?

  18. I just noticed the other day that while Marner is older than Suzuki, has way more playoff participations than Suzuki, Suzuki has more playoff goals than Marner.

  19. Yes. Marner stinks. Soft as ice cream. In a huge Leafs fan. I hate watching him play. Even when he dazzles a nice set up or goal, it doesn't do a thing for 90 percent of us Leafs fans.

  20. Dude, Marner doesn't care. He doesn't love the game other players literally said he's out there talking about his dog and summer home. The boys don't care to win

  21. Apart from last year at times, this is typical marner, the guy can't carry a line, can only be impactful if he's being carried by matthews and he always disappears against heavy physical teams…..are you worth 11m if you can only perform with matthews? No

  22. We don’t know what Mitch is going through, he was off for a long time with injury not that long ago. Give the guy a break, he is a superstar and he will show up.
