Been a fan since Sundin was captain and always will be, but this version of the leafs has never had a chance. Just watching them try to get out of their own end has always been frustrating.
It makes absolutely no sense to be starting Samsanov. Jones took a team to the finals and was much more reliable this year. Now, you aren’t winning scoring only one goal, but he just doesn’t make big saves very often and he was swimming last night.
Auston gets lots of goals against weak teams. Boston is not a weak team. Leafs have to play as a team. The coach is the total blame for the loss. Last 3 games of the season were a debacle. No wonder guys like Domi don't want to stay with the leafs after this season.
Im not worried. I just gave up already and actually moving on from this team. Im just done. They just dont knoww how to compete and this was all I needed to see. Done as a fan. Bunch of clowns.
The Leafs have been in this position before. The only difference, I think, is that they previously didn't have the Sheldumb taking the wind out of their leading scorer's sails right at the end of the regular season, and demoralising the team right before they began their next push for the Playoffs. I don't know that I've ever seen a coach so nonchalantly shoot his entire team in the foot with a single press conference, and with his track record with the Leafs in the Post-Season, I'm just waiting on the announcement that Upstairs has decided they've had enough of his shenanigans and yeets him out the front door.
If Toronto gets bumped in the first round… again… it will be Keefe's face that egg lands on, and it was thrown by him callously calling Matthews' game-play "a distraction".
Hey man, great episode. Can anybody tell me what Liljegren was doing on the first goal? When I played Peewee hockey, I learned that on a two-on-one, you give the goalie the shooter and make absolutely sure that a pass does not make its way across to the other forward. The clip of that goal is literally textbook of how NOT to defend a two-on-one.
90-something points gathered during the regular season, just to flush it down the toilet in 4 like you are the Sharks or Ducks. The Deserve To Win Meter ODing everybody with copium for Games 2-4 doesn't help, and that model is clearly missing some data!
If your coach is pulling the goalie when your down 3 goals you know he pissed and and trying to send a message to the players that it not the goalies fault. The leafs should be fucking embarrassed
"two shtraight on two shtraight powerplays…" Jesus Christ, man. Cut it out with the adding "sh" sounds to your "str" words. Christ Almighty. You didn't learn to speak that way.
"Overcommitting Physically"… that's one way to put it. It felt like Toronto was playing scared, and came out to say "You won't push us around!". Domi breaking his stick on Marchand's back the first play of the game, rabbit punching McAvoy, snowing the goalie? What was that Toronto? Trying to be something you're not. We all know how this ends…
I know it was only an optional skate today for the Leafs but they had only 6 players show up for it. To me that shows how little they care about their play.
2 goals or less in last 8 playoff games. Beyond unacceptable and shocking they won a series. Top guys need to elevate and they never seem to when it matters most
How long is it gonna take for the leafs management to realize they will never win with the core four they have? Keep Matthew's and Marner get rid of JT and Nylander and put that cap space to better use it's not rocket science

I honestly feel matthew’s will have the same experience as Ovi. In ovis younger years, they always choked in the playoffs, people said you could not win with him. But in his 30s, ovi got over the hump and won the cup. And the team he was surrounded by wasn’t the same as in the late 2000s/ early 2010s I think it’s gonna be similar with Matthews. My prediction: the leafs will win the cup in 2030. probably not too controversial just my gut feeling

I've been a leafs fan for 30 years. I'm not worried, I'm used to this, I expect this.
Yesterday was also 4/20. So, IT WAS POETIC that the Bruins marked the day by lighting their joint (TD Garden) and smoking some Leaf!

Two plays summed up the Leafs attempts to get tougher this season.
Reaves bad hit that resulted in the first goal.
Domi's slashing penalty that lead to a PP goal for Boston.
Sure the Leafs hit a lot and are chippy but they aren't actually any harder to play against in the end.
If those dingers went in bruins would have had ten goals atleast.

Last 10 in the third was just the last 10 of a regular season game no push back it the playoffs you can score 3 -4 in that time frame
