I lived in Selkirk until age 12 and returned to Winnipeg 25 years later for a visit. Aside from times with friends, the only thing I remember about my return to Winnipeg was walking by myself down a main street on a Saturday afternoon and singing out loud. After a minute or so, I caught myself and pulled off my headphones in embarrassment. Someone must have heard me singing terribly, I thought, until I realized I was the only person walking down a main street in downtown Winnipeg. Winnipeg is a shit-hole, and I can say that because I'm from there. But I love Winnipeg and I genuinely fear for the survival of the NHL team. No one wants to play NHL hockey in Winnipeg. Not even natives of the city, and that breaks my heart. I hope the team survives, but I'm scared it won't. p.s. Maybe Trav will save the day. Trav, you've been coached by a ton of coaches from all over the world. Are they coaching the same thing, or does your mind get muddled by various theories on how to stop a puck from going into the net?
