Big Jeff Carter career appreciation thread

Won’t be the most popular player to end his career in Pittsburgh. Not his fault he was offered an extension – we would all have signed it too. Here is to the career of this beauty!

Jeff Carter, what a player, what a career. I know he was only a Penguins for a short amount of time but this guy provided me countless memories when he was playing in LA and for that I will be forever grateful. Thank you, big Jeff for your hard work and dedication to the game. We will miss you in Pittsburgh and are forever grateful for your time here.

Fare fucking well JC. Yes he had his ups and downs but you can’t deny he is one helluva hockey player. Honored the number 77. Good luck and farewell, Jeff.

Thank you Mr Carter for the jersey off your back, I’ll always appreciate you for that

  4. anonymou38

You can tell the guys loved playing with him. Yes he was overpaid the last couple years, but one hell of a teammate

  5. Between Scott hartnells wife and partying with captain coke head, this man was surprisingly not as toxic as he could’ve been during his Pittsburgh stint. Thanks for growing up Jeff.

Gotta give it to him that he is looking great for a 40 year old😎 attaboi Jeff

He was my first NHL jersey I’ve owned. Robo pens Carter jersey. I wore that jersey for the last two seasons. I’ll miss him.

Fitting that he ends his career with the final Penguins goal this year as well.

    All the best, Jeff!

I have no appreciation for him, but understand he was a good teammate and hockey player.

That said, I can’t wait to see someone else in that 4C role.

Happy he got a goal in his final game. Nothing but love to our Face Off Hero, BDJC 💕💕💕

Jeff Fucking Carter. What can I say? It’s not like I know the guy personally, but I was happy to watch him play from his time with the Flyers, to those cup wins with the Kings, to now (we don’t talk about time in Columbus). I had a lot of exposure to Flyers hockey in my high school years through CSN Philly, and damn it was something to watch him early on with Mike Richards. Probably gonna bust out the 77 gold alt after work tomorrow. Assuming retirement is on the horizon for sure for sure, I hope nothing but the best in it for him. I’ll buy him a fucking beer if I ever happen across him.

insane career tbh, even in the end he still had a little bit of magic left in him.

I was pissed at him all season. But ever since he got traded to La I loved him. NHL won’t be same with you gone

First Pens game I watched Carter got the game winning goal and became my favorite player to my yinzer girlfriend’s chagrin. Hope Big Dick Carter enjoys retirement!

Take this dentures out and show us that gap you beautiful bastard!

Congrats to big Jeff. I don’t care, I love the dude, I shit on him plenty of times, but he kept the team together and was a solid 1 c a few seasons ago when Sid and geno were out to start the year.

Nothing but the best to him and his family.

this will probably get overlooked but here goes nothing.

As a kid, probably no older than 9 or 10, I’d always go out of my way to trade for Jeff Carter in every single NHL video game I had (to make the penguins even more stacked). This little interaction turned into so much more for me whenever I got to be a teenager. I started to feel emotions as all hormonal teenagers do. to add onto this, i had switched schools for the pandemic, and lost almost all of my friends. i fell into a deep depression like state and seriously considered doing some things I would’ve regretted. this lasted for a few months, until April 12th of 2021. when the news of the trade broke I felt that little piece of me as a kid, smiling from ear to ear trading for him on my Xbox 360 again. After feeling like life wasn’t worth living for 4-5 months, one little trade for what would turn out to be an average 3rd/4th liner taught me that life is about the little things. you can find happiness everywhere. Thank you Jeff. for showing me happiness, for reconnecting me with the game, and for saving me. long live the legacy of big Jeff.

Not a Penguin/Flyer/Kings fan, but always admired this man’s game. Thanks Jeff! 🇨🇦

Sad that his last couple years were so bogged down in how bad the contract was and how poorly he played in a larger role than he really should have had.

Still convinced that if Jarry was even remotely competent in 2021, Carter would have etched an HBK-level legend into Penguins lore in those playoffs. That team was absolutely rolling and he was a huge part of it.

  19. Strategery_Man

Is he retiring?!?! FUCK! I’ve been using his sticks for years from the Pens surplus sales. Homeboy has almost no flex on his stick and a sick Lindros-esque curve

  20. PonerBenis6

Congrats, Jeff. Thanks. Now can we bring in some god damn youth!

  21. marajadefan

Although we were all demanding his retirement when he was being overused, Big Jeff had some big moments in a Penguins sweater, and by all accounts was a great teammate.

    We’ll miss you Jeff!

  22. -The_Credible_Hulk

Jeff you would have been a bargain at 1/3 the price.

  23. Conscious-Weird5810

Not necessarily his fault (management takes the L here) but no one player is more representative of the Penguins fall from grace. Good riddance this chapter is over

  24. UnreadThisStory

Congratulations on a great career and enjoy the next phase of your life!

One of my favorite memories growing up was the 2012 run. Pens eliminated already. But for whatever reason my friend and I loved La that season. I bought a Jeff carter shirt. I wore the fuck outta that shirt. Anytime I played nhl I was rooting for Jeff carter.
That friend and I stopped talking for a few years. Until the pens picked up Jeff carter again. Like clock work I bought his pens shirt.
I will cherish the time I had watching him play. Sad he dried up at the end but still was happy I got to have him.
