Philly Express review/experience

Man this one did NOT go how I hoped.

Reached out to Nat about the process and pricing. He emailed me back with steps to take (where to send to, etc) and price quotes. Was told it would be $100 for a blank kit, $25 to apply patches.

Here’s what I sent in:
Adidas Away blank – size 56
Adidas Stadium Series Toffoli Size 56
Adidas Stadium Series “JACK HUGHES” size 56
Adidas Alternate black – Hughes (Jack)

I just needed to add “A” Alternate Captain patches to the 2 Jack Hughes jerseys and a stadium series patch to both Stadium Series jerseys. The Blank was being done for Luke Hughes.

No issues sending them in. They arrived and I received my invoice in about a week and a half. First issue – my invoice was charging me $50 for each patch and not the $25 I was quoted.

I paid it and emailed Nat asking why the difference – he said that the prices went up due to increased costs. Ok. Seemed high but whatever. Posted on here letting everyone know the new prices. Someone who actually works at PX commented and reached out. He lowered the patch prices to $20. Nat told me he was going to refund me the difference. He kinda did. It wasn’t as much as he should have but I wasn’t going to make a big deal over $10.

Really big issue – So my jerseys were due to arrive today. I was so excited. UPS guy hands me the box and immediately I realize the box weighs nothing and there’s no way there are 4 jerseys inside. Sure enough, they sent me some random guys Size 50 Hughes Stadium Series jersey. To add salt to the wound, his jersey was just tossed in a cardboard box and shipped. No plastic wrap, no bag, nothing. It wasn’t damaged but come on.

And of course the guy who was sent my jerseys is on vacation for the week and won’t be home until next week. Now we have to ship each other our jerseys. I reached out to the PX guy here on Reddit (because I was obviously pissed at how this all unfolded) and he basically said “Nat doesn’t work for PX, he is just a middle man, we only do the jerseys we don’t have anything to do with the shipping stuff so your issues are with Nat”

I don’t even know how my jerseys turned out, but the stitching on this guys stadium series jersey is not impressive at all. I just can’t believe how crappy this experience was from the start to the finish. Turn around time was good but this all just seems so unprofessional.

I’m sorry this is LONG. I really just needed to rant and get this out. But I would definitely recommend not getting your stuff done by Philly Express. Just seems very unprofessional and they don’t seem to care for your jerseys at all. (Attached is an image of a patch they added for this person)

Edit: again, I know this is long. But I needed to get this out. I’m sorry. And I know mistakes happen. But this all just seemed so unprofessional. Opening the box and seeing this guys jersey not in a bag or anything just really got to me. Hell put it in a grocery bag at least. If this had been outside for any length of time and got rained on? It’d be ruined.

  2. Damn, I have a couple blanks I was getting ready to ship out for some name stitching. Definitely going to look for alternatives after reading this. Thanks Dude!

Oh man I’m nervous now. I sent them 3 jerseys to do a week ago. Even ignoring the patch stuff the lack of protection between the cardboard box and the jersey is really bad when the whole point of going through these guys instead of the heat press at the rock is because we care about quality and condition.

Oof. I have 2 jerseys I’m looking to send out to get customized. Was going to use them, might have to change that

Damn, I’m sorry your jerseys got mis-shipped 😔 I’d be upset if that happened, too. I don’t think you’re overreacting. I hope that other customer does the right thing and gets them back to you.

I know I recommended them recently on here from my first experience with them (which was far better than yours).

I didn’t have protection on my three jerseys either, but they were not damaged nor packed very tightly together to cause creasing. I was just grateful they used a hard cardboard box, honestly. Those cheap plastic mailers that other places use can mangle the crest and numbers easily. I probably should’ve noted that in my own review.

As for the stitching I did note to someone it’s a wider stitch with some variations in a PX vs HA comparison question – HA being a cleaner stitch presentation imo, but the PX stitching literally matching what you see on the MiCs.

Anyway, that aside, I’m really sorry this is happening with your order (with that customer service experience on top of it). I just hope you get your kits back regardless.

That’s rough. I’ve used them several times in the past and haven’t had the same issues. Hope you get your jerseys back

Totally understand the need to vent, OP. You basically described my worst fear if one of my orders to Exclusive Pro Sports got mixed up with someone else’s 😱.

Also those prices for adding patches and captains A/C patches are kinda steep.

Being upset with PX isn’t the answer here, and complaints about the stitching don’t make sense as they do on ice jerseys for the Devils. Yes you read that correctly. The jerseys you see your favorite players wear every night for the Devils are all done by PX, so they know what they are doing.

Sounds like an issue with Flyers Skate Zone, and not Philly Express. Had stuff done by them no issue for friends. But you do you

In my eyes, if your issues were with the customization or stitching that’s Px. If your issue is with pricing and or the shipping that’s on Skate Zone. That’s like me buying something from you and then getting mad at you that FedEx smooshed the package. I can only say ive had nothing but positive experiences with Px and Skate Zone for many years that I’ve been dealing with them.

Edit: there seems to be some confusion here with some people (I’m assuming PX employees?)

Nowhere am I “blaming” PX for all of the issues I’ve experienced here. I’m not stupid enough to think that the guys working on jerseys were the cause for my package going to the wrong person.

But PX does have some responsibility here. The pricing confusion? They share the blame here since it’s their work being paid for. The fact that “flyers skate zone” doesn’t properly care for the jerseys their customers are paying to have worked on, PX shares blame here. You should have quality standards that are followed by your “middlemen” companies. You should tell them (since they don’t seem to care) that a $300 jersey should not just be tossed in a cardboard box and shipped across the country. It should be wrapped/protected.

If you have companies out there working with YOUR CUSTOMERS “on your behalf” you do share some responsibility with how they act on your behalf. That’s common sense.

I recommend next time going through Sports Minded when sending into PX. It’s the same price as through the Skatezone and Emily LeBoeuf is great to deal with

Aspen Ice in Randolph and Ice Vault in Wayne stitch and do it for a decent price

It really seemed like there was a lot of guerrilla marketing going on for Philly express here the last few weeks. Glad to see someone posting a real experience. Glad I didn’t take the dive

Curious, what is exactly wrong with the patch in the photo?

Fyi, I picked up mine in person (skate zone px) and it arrived back in a grocery bag. My nice ziplock was gone. Guess I will just ask next time.
