With Leafs’ fate sealed, how should they treat Matthews?

Sitting at 69 goals with two games to play, should Auston Matthews get the green, yellow or red light in his chase for 70? Do his teammates really want him to reach the milestone or prefer he puts the team first and rest for the playoffs? 7-Eleven That’s Hockey host Gino Reda is joined by Bryan Hayes and Marc Methot to discuss.

  1. You know what’s more important than this? Jesus Christ, he’s coming back soon! Please get saved today, god bless your soul ❀

  2. Difficult decision, but if the playoffs are THAT important for the Leafs (and they should be), then Matthews should likely be rested. The rest of the team should surely be able to pick up the slack without him, for these two effectively meaningless games now, noπŸ€”?

  3. green light.. but play him on powerplays and whenever theres a faceoff in floridas zone… should play like 10 minutes toi… get Revo out there for 24 minutes lol. jk. This narrative that Leafs should be scared of the kitty cats is dumb. Florida should be scared of the Leafs. Lets bring it to em!

  4. Put Reaves in the lineup and if someone runs Matthew then Reaves runs their best. Retribution is a necessary evil.

  5. Matthews' 70 is the perfect justification to keep the "smart" Leafs fanbase happy while getting another LOSS in the first or second round… given seems easier 70 now than success in playoffs, Leafs will push for that 70, to give the "smart" fans what they want

  6. 1:00 – yeah, but people weren't trying to put Aaron Judge through the boards while he's at bat. Hockey is a contact sport.
That being said, Matthews should play and if Florida tries to hurt any leaf, then we call up the biggest guy we can to hurt Bobrovsky in game 1.
