Lucas Raymond’s hat-trick keeps Detroit Red Wings playoff hopes alive



The top line went absolutley nuts in this hockey game. DeBrincat and Larkin had 3 point nights, but none were as impactful as Lucas Raymond who scored his 2nd career hattrick enroute to a 4-point night. Their combined performances forced a huge 3rd period comeback and allowed Detroit to steal a point from the Penguins to keep the Red Wings playoff hopes alive with 3 games remaining. Unfortunatley, Not much else about this game was great. No depth support, defensive errors, a flaccid powerplay and poor goaltending ultimatley led to Pittsburgh getting two points, and controlling their destiny. #LGRW

    Odds are they could win their last few games and still miss the play offs. I feel like losing to the Caps brought them down and this game was the backbreaker. On the plus side I think we can confidently say Raymond has taken steps forward in his development this season and is looking to be a leader on this team.

    I know Fisher and Bentley are doing what they can to remain upbeat, but they're not realistic. The season is over. You can't expect the Wings to come from under the heap and catch the last spot even though mathematically it is possible. Problem is, it is improbable. I think the Pens will do it. The Wings had their chance and blew it. The Wings did not take advantage of that 10 point lead over those 3 non-playoff bound teams, the Caps, the Isles, and the Pens. And the Pens are playing better than all the teams clawing for the 2nd wildcard. I like Fisher's passion as podcaster for the Wings, but I've got reservations about Bentley's commentary on this roster. Bentley is too conservative and too apprehensive, and doesn't give practical analyses on several topics regarding the Wings. Bentley did have it right re: Lyon giving up softies, but he's just not consistent with giving practical commentary. Alex Lyon truly stunk in this outing, which proves he cannot perform consistently during the regular season as a starter. Lyon gets hot, but he gets cold quickly.

    The lack of a call on the Raymond trip is absolutely crazy! How much more blatant can it be and it leads to a goal. Unreal!

    Going on a heater before the deadline is turning out to be one of the worst things for this team moving forward. Multiple things need to be addressed and having a legit 2C would be nice.

    Being honest, this team doesn't have any business being in the playoffs. The downside of the Yzerplan is getting "edged" for years while never fully tanking to speed up the rebuild. Larkin will be 35 by the time the prospects and the team is at the level needed to compete with deep playoff teams. "But we play well against great teams every year" sure.. But the Wings also have 3 separate 7+ game losing streaks.. Good teams don't do that. (As a hawks fan, I'm deeply enjoying the fans jumping on Kaner's meat. He's gone after these next 3 games. Adios Detroit, enjoy that new garbage patch! lmao)

    The polish guy on the left bitching about the refs has a brutal take.. It's the NHL.. Detroit had illegal soviets and countless legends who played with jean shorts and no helmets..
