Where do the Oilers rank in terms of the contenders in the Western Conference? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to share his thoughts.
It's EASIER to win the Stanley Cup with the Oilers than it is to win the Stanley Cup with the Leafs and that is because Edmonton plays in a weaker conference with weaker teams compared to the Leafs who have to run the gauntlet of the Panthers and Bruins both of which are Stanley Cup contenders. Also there is less media and fan pressure to win in Edmonton than there is in Toronto. If McDavid wants to be the GOAT, the he NEEDS to play in Toronto and win them their first Stanley Cup with the Leafs since 1967. One Stanley Cup win with the Leafs is better than multiple Stanley Cup win with the Oilers.
McDavid is a coward as he would rather play in a weaker division and conference than man up and prove his GOATNESS by playing in the superior conference in the East and the BEST division in the NHL in the Atlantic. McDavid playing for and winning the Stanley Cup with the Leafs is better than McDavid winning the Stanley Cup with the Oilers.
Winning a Stanley Cup with the Leafs is the most difficult task any player, coach or GM could undertake in their careers due to the degree of difficulty. It's easier to win the Stanley Cup outside of Toronto than it is to win the Stanley Cup with Toronto. McDavid winning the Stanley Cup with the Oilers is a walk in the park compared to what Auston Matthews has to do in Toronto which is to climb Mount Everest. If McDavid is as good as the media and fans says he is then he NEEDS to prove his worth by playing for the Leafs and asserting is GOATNESS by winning them their first Stanley Cup since 1967.

No they are overrated and play in the weakest division in hockey. One game without McDavid means shit all. They have been healthy all year and teams are bound to have injuries. Elite teams can win when their stars get injured. Sure they won one game but doubtful they can win a stretch without him.
