The Montreal Canadiens are the future of the NHL. With the Hab’s great play of late it has prompted a lot of questions about how they will be in the future. With Juraj Slafkovsky potting his first career hat trick, could this be the beginning of something special in Montreal? KC breaks it down on this episode of Hat Trick HQ.

  1. I agree. The potential is starting to show. Hopefully next year they take the next step. And I agree that Newhook gets overlooked a lot.

  2. Since 2015-2016 Habs have made the playoffs TWICE! Some would say 3 times, we went to the finals in 2020-2021, but we didnt actually even make the playoffs that year, we only made the playoffs because of the covid format. Habs went from 1947-48 to 1994-95 and missed the playoffs TWICE! We missed the playoffs TWICE in 50 years, now we can't make the playoffs to save our souls. Since 1993-94 we have missed the playoffs 14 times. My historic franchise has been drug thru the mud and shit for the last 30 years. I honestly dont know how the team has any new fans, who wants to hope for a team who struggles to make the playoffs EVERY year, and when they do make it, u know they're not going anywhere. I am older, and i remember when our team was feared! The good old days. We are definitely trending in the right direction, but we need A LOT more offence. Caufield is NEVER going to score 50 goals in the NHL, im sorry to be the one to have to break that to you. But he's too small. As far as im concerned, he's a 30-35 goal scorer, which is awesome, especially in the NHL, and at $8.5M. We need a McDavid, or a Matthews, and i know Edmonton has Draisaitl and McDavid, and still cant win a cup, but we will hopefully have a lot more depth, that's what teams like Edmonton and Toronto are missing, depth, defense and goaltending, other than that, they're pretty good!! lol. I want my team to be incredible again! Im so tired of finishing in the bottom ten in the league, EVERY YEAR. I am gonna sub to ur channel, if u read all this!!! lol. Later Bro. Go habs Go!!! 😉

  3. I think that the hidden card of the Habs in the future will be the D-Squad. Reinbacker, Guhle, Hudson, Mailloux, Strubble, Xhekaj, Matheson, Barron, Harris, plus other quality d-men from Russia and elsewhere. All these guys are studs and they are big. The strength of the Montreal Canadiens will not be the scoring talent as much as it's defense. It will soon start to be very difficult to score against the Habs, let alone just keeping the puck in the Habs zone. This will force opponents to take more risks to score, therefore creating turn arounds. Enter Alex Newhook and the likes who are going to capitalize on these situations. This I think is the Habs rebuild mentality. Start with the Goal, then the defense and then the offence. The Habs are aiming for the cup obviously.

  4. Agree. However i think one thing they reslly meed to improve on is special teams. Specifically power play. Overall things are looking great for the Habs 🔵⚪🔴

  5. The habs will be good in 4-6 years boys we can’t start lying to ourselves and say next year is our year. I can’t wait for us to be good but forget about slaf look at our defensive prospects phenomenal and they take time to develop
