  1. I can understand why Laviolette thought it was a dirty elbow looking at it from the bench. Still this is incidental contact. Just unfortunate. Wish Zibanejad a speedy recovery.

  2. IMO its intentional. In the original broadcast there was a higher angle of the collision. You can see the Isles player take a sly look in the corner in his eye at Mika. He then continues his path with his arm up to hit him. Obviously it won't get called because of how subtle it was. Either way it was a fun game can't wait for Saturday

  3. I’d love to see how far behind Mika Pelech was when he moved to that position. Looks unintentional but to play devils advocate theoretically Pelech sees Mika is heading to the bench and looking up ice and plants himself right in Mika’s path knowing he won’t see him there until the last minute if at all

  4. Somehow Laviolette saw it as a "viscious shoulder elbow to the head" that was intentional. Dobson should have received a boarding penalty with 10 seconds left, I agree, but Laviolette is just looking for an excuse to parade out his 6'8" goon next game. I say bring on the racoon. He hasn't hurt anybody going toe to toe, he's only hurt them when he's received a match penalty for his dirty play.

  5. Lavi should have dressed Rempe, you got to know what type of game its gonna be. I expect him to be dressed Saturday.

  6. 100% Accidental. Zibanejad thought Pelech would keep moving forward and could go behind him. But Pelech stopped to position himself because the Rangers gained possession of the puck. No bad intent.

  7. This was accidental. The Dobson hit on Trocheck with 17sec left should have been called.

  8. That's definitely a bizarre injury, indeed. Meeks is obviously going to be okay. It didn't look that serious. 😕

  9. Would be nice to see another angle because Mika signaled to come off and if Pelech saw that and turned in Z's direction…; however, the video that is available seems to justify non-intentionality.

  10. and in typical laviolette fashion he whines calling it a vicious hit when it was an accident. trouba goes after guys routinely with borderline hits and laviolette becomes a mute

  11. I call it karma. Zibanejad slew footed an Islanders player in purpose in first period. No call. And as far as the Dobson hit. 9/10 times it’s called. But he was a little further from the boards. It was almost a playoff hockey no calls rangers need to get used to that. Cause if they think they will win based i. Their power play. They won’t get as many chances come
    Playoff time.

  12. Pelech clearly adjusts his skating and positioning to get in Mika’s way. Could it be an accident…maybe
But you can make the argument he definitely saw Mika in his side sight and created a dangerous situation for him

  13. Mika got away with slapping his stick against Palmeri’s head earlier so I don’t feel too bad

  14. Mika deserved it for that dirty slewfoot earlier in the game. Fuck the rags dirtiest team in the league. Bunch of pussies. All them should go for a limo ride with konstantinov

  15. The same ranger fans that went on and on about how macdermid is just a goon for chasing rempe around and wanting to fight him, are now demanding for rempe to play next game so he can go after pelech. Funny how that works out…

  16. It's not about Pelech 'looking away'; any of these guys can look away
but still know more about their surroundings than the guy committed to, and timing his move to the bench. If dont understand the value of your big D-man 'accidentally' [read: passively] colliding with one of their fastest and most-clutch shooters around play-off time, you are ignoring key understandings of mass and inertia, and basic contact-sport strategy. Lots of these commenters think all NHLer's have is their eyes to play the game with– this is a full body perception– they arent doing a flippin' Sudoku, ya jabronis.

  17. Pelech didnt mean to hit him. He prob saw ziba was heading to the bench and wasn't going to move out of the way for him.

  18. Skating around like it’s not a contact sport. Honestly what I expect from Mika, the dude has no idea where he is out there half the time. 9 million a year has no idea what to do or where to be 5 on 5, he really is just a PP merchant

  19. In case anybody's wondering, taking a hard hit when you're not ready results in total body nausea for a few minutes, often combined with having the breath knocked out of you so for a few seconds you can't breathe. Not fun. MZ wanted to get away from the fans in case he barfed. Also not fun.
