Avs’ Central Division Hopes Diminished | Jared Bednar Post-Game Interview | Avalanche vs Stars
The Avs fall to the Stars tonight. Central division hopes could be all, but gone. Head Coach Jared Bednar’s Full Post Game Availability. April 07, 2024.
Central division,& West 1 seed hopes are over…not diminished. Not remotely the end of the world-but I do think getting home ice vs WPG is somewhat important.Ya arent guaranteed anything with it-or doomed without it-but is something you want-especially vs WPG.And I agree with coach Bednar.Ive been critical of Giorgiev much of the year-but I dont blame him a bit tonight.Idiotic penalties,& and terrible PK…plus great Star PP play-was the whole story. Walker has been an awesome addition overall-but his 6 minutes of penalties in the 3rd vs Montreal,& 4 minute high stick tonight were killer,& just cannot keep happening.
I actually think finishing 1st might be a tougher draw for Dallas-if Vegas ends up #8(not if LA does though).I think Nashville,& especially Vegas have signifigantly superior rosters than WPG…except in net-where Hellunbuck is the best goalie on earth. I still like a healthy Avs chances vs WPG-with or without home ice.But with home ice Id say maybe 65% chance…w/o home ice-more like 55-45. By far the most important thing is Rantanen getting healthy,& overall roster health. But I do think its somewhat important to finish 2nd.Like the Nugs-Avs can beat or lose to anybody-no matter their seed. But Ive always said for both-finishing 2nd instead of 3rd…is signifigantly more important than ending up 1st instead of 2nd.
Come on, Bednar, the Avs gave up 14 goals in 2 games. The Avs played lazy at times. 4 minute penalty because Benn bit his lip, little blood, and the refs bought it. Give him an Academy Award for his diving.

I appreciate a coach's confidence in his goalie, but wow! To say that Georgiev had a great game? That's so so wild to me.

he has sucked
Gotta stay out of the penalty box. 4 minute high stick was brutal. It happens but that hurt.
