  1. What is is Juraj Slafkovský's upside? And has your team ever had a prospect who took a little longer to develop, but became a star player?

  2. As a habs fan, i'm disgusted by my own fanbase. Calling your own 18 years old, 1st overall pick a bust after 50-60ish games is loser behaviour

  3. Yeah man! Love Slaf. Everyone kept piling on the kid. Thankfully some of us were in the mindset of give the kid time. And that paid off big time. I’m so glad they took him over Wright. When he tried to stare down the Habs table… what a punk. Slaf all the way.

  4. Speaking as a Slovak first, ice hockey fan 2nd – we take all the haters with Slaf very painfully, and gotta he honest last season was worrying with the injury but Canadians did the right thing not to play him anymore and let him work on things during the summer and put on extra weight (like he needed it lol). If you look at that line, they needed exactly this- size and strength that can play with Nick and CC – and let’s be honest they are very talented but not the most intimidating bunch. I think that line in 1-2 years will be very scary. Slaf being the enforcer, using his size and strength to let the Ds worry about him and let the space for the rest to skate around and score bunch.

  5. Hab fan here and not a hater…. But look at the numbers….Slafkovsky has under performed NAIL YACOPOV OVER his first 111 games. Habs burn there ELC ON Slafkovsky….. Wright was not my pick but he is developing very well in the AHL…. CMON ABOUT Slafkovsky and his amateur career… which was garbage

  6. i do remember you saying something similair about alexes leffenaire and look what happend if i had to guess not next year but the year after unicorn boy will be atleast a 80 point player and the canadiens fans need to stop rushing things with him

  7. Full credit to Hughes/Gorton here. I swear if you polled Habs fans on draft day Wright would have been this pick. Slafkovsky will be a game breaker for them for many years.

  8. I hope the Habs go long on Slaf this summer. Bet big on him BEFORE he's had his big 30 goal 80 pt + year in year 3 or 4.

  9. I'll never understand people who is ready to ship off a rookie after their first year of real opposition. In literally everything you need time to adjust to changes.

  10. Canucks fans were screaming « busts » from the rooftops for the first 3-4 years of the Sedins careers too…

  11. In another couple years once he develops some more along with the rest of the young team around him, he's gonna a key part in leading them back to the finals and maybe even win it all. He has the grit, the size, the skill, the hockey IQ, the determination and the mental maturity it takes to go on a deep playoff run. The only thing left that he needs is time

  12. In 20 years when wright and slaf retire I’ll predict Shane wright will have the better career

  13. Said it when he got drafted will say it again this kid has the potential to be Hossa.
Massive 2 way scoring winger, also one of the more underrated hall of famers of our generation.

  14. He's insane. Last year he was falling on the ice all the time. I think he just never had to use his body… But this year, he's impressive. He win a lot of battle over the board, create some space for his team mate and of course, he's very skilled. He have a really good vision, good shot. It was a good pick for montreal. They told they draft the best player to be in 4-5 years. But he's already impressive… He just turn 20 years old… god!

  15. LOL 42 points in 74 games. That is called a bust and jumping none fighters doesnt make you tough lmfao

  16. Slafkovsky may have benefited from a stint in the AHL last year, now he is growing steadily with the Habs. Two years from now you could see him as a point a game player.

  17. Being the no1 draft pick, the expectations are very high and if you don't become the best, you're a bust. Juraj looked lost last year but he's getting way better than i expected of him. he'll never be the best in the league with McDavid around but his ceiling is just so unpredictable at this point. could he get a 100 points season one day? i think he can, in the coming years. he's just starting.

  18. got to watch S.Wright at the now renamed "Slush Puppie Palace" in my hometown of K-town.

  19. @asweethat where you at dawg? Did you eat your words yet or at least feel ashamed of your "amazing" take on Slaf?

  20. Slaf’s unmentioned value is in his quotability. Hockey is a sport but it’s also a commercial entertainment machine, and slaf is ultimate entertainer. Even if he might not have countless 100+ point seasons, he will be a leader for generations – and with cole and suzuki they are building legend that will last for ages

  21. I remember back in the day. Scotty Bowman was not a big fan of Guy Lafleur. There were also some fans that were impatient with Lafleur. Bowman asked Sam Pollock more than once to trade Lafleur. Pollock kept telling Bowman to be patient and Lafleur was going to be dominant. You see this all the time through the years with different players. Slafkovsky is a different type player than Lafleur. But he's going to be an important cog in the machine. I kind of laugh when I see how big some the guys are on Vegas, Tampa and Florida. In the playoffs size matters.

  22. It's just the Habs haters who want so bad for a young 18 yr old Juraj to be a bust that were talking ish last year. In reality, they were scared, scared of what he will become. Now they know he's going to be a superstar and they've grown quiet, and shaking in their boots. Just ignore them. Tf do they know about hockey anyways?

  23. I just want another player that plays like Ovy, hits like a truck, shoots like a truck, celebrates like a truck

  24. the Habs had a shitty draft year for having 1st pick overall !!!! they made the best choice with the best player….Kinda like Toronto when it was either Laine or Mathews….if they chose Laine….that franchise would be garbage, but that year had studs at draft time

  25. You got it exactly there is nothing to add. Regarding Wright he is a selfish joke with an awful personality. Transition between minor leagues and the NHL is not easy for guy without support of the team mates. That’s why he’s a loser.

  26. Slav – Suzuki duo is criminally underrated because Montreal is in the Tank and people look at point totals to evaluate talent. Both can make plays, both can score. It's a nightmare to defend against. Both can force the defense to over commit, giving the other more ice. Once Montreal has more forward depth (including a healthy Dach) and some of their offensive defensemen prospect mature and join the team, these two will have even more space to shine. Imo, Montreal and Anaheim are the two trains people need to hop on now !

  27. Besides his obvious physical talents the thing that is going to set Slaf apart from others is his willingness to learn and his drive to win .
