  1. It’s a regular part of the process lol. We also met Lekkerimaki a few times, it doesn’t mean much if we don’t know the whole pool

If we were to take Parekh, and him and Hutson both pan out then we’d be an absolutely terrifying team to face on the powerplay and 3 on 3 OT lol.

Bad reporting. What kind of meetings were these? Was it in a board room? Over dinner? Did they introduce each other to their families? Were gifts exchanged? The public has a right to know!

Meetings are a big part of the scouting process for this org. Don’t assume a meeting means we’re gonna draft the guy, but you know that whoever we draft interviewed really well.

I feel like with as wide of a variance there is between 2-10, we’re going to be happy with whomever Hughes picks (unless he goes wildly off the board for someone), even if it happens to be a defenseman. But on that same note, I really get the feeling Hughes is going to wheel and deal for a solid T6 piece for next season’s roster at the Draft.

  6. Habs meeting with prospects ahead of draft.

    No kidding.

Media is struggling for headlines with the rebuild.

are you telling me Hughes is doing his homework and not throwing a dart at the board to draft?

Scouts meeting with top prospects before the draft. Complete non story

  9. Longshanks123

As we are drafting in the 6-10 range I would imagine they’ll have several meetings with most of the players ranked in the top 12

GM is going to go see first round picks play and there’s only so much time while you’re running an NHL team so it’s still interesting to see who we’re checking out.

  11. I’ve had mixed feelings about Hughes’ drafting record with the Habs the first couple years but after seeing how Slaf is panning out, I’m just gonna trust him

Basically, we should just assume they’ve met/will meet with every potential draftee. So really nothing to glean from these reports.

I’ll take Catton over Parekh. The forward position is much needing help compare to defense.

The top line is looking great. The second line needs a goal scorer, Dach and Newhook still have a lot to prove but in my mind could work well with a goal scorer. I’m not sure who the top goal scorers are in this draft but if it’s Eiserman I wouldn’t mind the pick at all.

I’m starting to think these meeting with players are a crucial part in their selection, they seem to be picking players that are showing a team first mindset. Going to battle every night with a brotherhood that will stick up for one another no matter what, it’s a refreshing thing to experience with this team!

Anything but a defenseman for me, we badly need skill in our forwards

Holy shit! We’re gonna draft Catton, Parekh, AND Iginla. The future is bright!

  18. Mackee58

I mean, they should be meeting with any prospects they can. That’s kind of their job.

Didn’t Habs meet with Bedard aha even after the lottery position was announced?
