Nikolaj Ehlers checking from behind on Ryan McLeod – Tough Call Review
Nikolaj Ehlers jumps into the back of Ryan McLeod with force. If this is into the boards it’s a major penalty, so why open ice does it downgrade to nothing at all?
Mcleod kind of gives him his back to hit, honestly ref probably thought he was trying to draw a call. Not saying the check from behind is ok, but if your eligible to be hit you kind of have the responsibility to give the guy a legal target. Mcloed new he was coming, he stood like that after he played the puck, to block the skating lane. probably dint think the guy would drill him, he even puts his elbow up to the boards to brace for the impact he knew was coming. I think this would have been called in most games, but I think in this case the ref thought he was being a little cheeky.
