On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, we look at how Thomas Harley’s improvements this season, have improved the entire defense as a whole. Adding Harley as a partner to Miro Heiskanen, the Stars have one of the elite pairings in the NHL and arguably the best. However, with Harley jumping up to the top pair, that allowed Chris Tanev to play with Esa Lindell when he was aquired at the deadline. Lindell’s numbers have improved drastically with Tanev, not only has that pairing benefited, Ryan Suter has played much better with Nils Lundkvist this season. The Stars may have found their pairings for the playoffs and hopefully this trend continues. Tonight the Stars are in Vancouver to take on the Canucks in a clash of two best teams in the Western Conference. The Canucks will be without Stars killer Thatcher Demko in net. He is 7-0-1 in his career vs Dallas and has been put on the LTIR, Casey Desmith has filled in as the starter. Offensively players like JT Miller, Brock Boeser and others are having career years. Another great test for the Stars coming off games against some of the worst teams in the league. To finish off the episode it’s time for Shooting Star! I think Miro will go off tonight and bank some points and I feel Pavs will get one on a deflection or PP. Two points or bust tonight. 💫
With how well the Stars have been playing this month and honestly pretty well in February minus the defense against those top teams, I'm pretty confident that they'll handle business tonight, I'm thinking they might have a slower start with not a crazy ton of activity but I think they'll put the pressure on like crazy in the second and third periods and get the W in regulation. GO STARS!
