  1. I would love to see 91 in the rafters of the Pizzarena and to see Fedorov as head coach, but feel it's nearly impossible.

  2. There was a lot of buzz of bringing him in before lalonde was hired… well him and Larionov both. Who knows, maybe Yzerman would want to move on from lalonde. I think he's done well as a coach but seems to have hit a wall for whatever reason. As far as fans are concerned, I think the hostility is gone. I for one have always had sergei as one of my favorite players both then and now.

  3. If we're going to go the "Old Boys' Network" route at least Fedorov is a good coach.

  4. The Wings havent fired ah coach since when, the late 80s early 90s and they got Bowman? This franchies operates like the Steelers, so I wouldnt place my bets Stevie firing his yes man in Newsy

  5. If the Ilitch family were to block they're even more incompetent than I already think they are.

  6. Feel like it makes more sense for the current GR coach to be the future detroit coach if derek doesn't pan out. Grown within the system coaching our young prospects — sounds like an yzerman blueprint. Turned the Griffs around for sure

  7. He was as complete of a player as there ever was. In 1994, he was runner-up for the-now Rocket Richard (56 goals, just behind Bure), runner-up for the Art Ross (120pts, only behind Gretzky), runner-up for the Plus/Minus, won the Hart Memorial, won the Lester B. (now Ted Lindsey), won the Selke trophy. He won the fastest skater twice, and even won the hardest shot once at the All-Star games.
Scotty Bowman said that Sergei probably could have been an elite defenseman if he made the switch.

For today's perspective, it would be if McDavid became a Selke-level 2-way player and developed a slapshot as hard as Victor Hedman.

  8. If the owners of the Red Wings refuse to retire his number, there is no way is going to coach the team.

  9. I thought it was Anna Kournikova who screwed him over. I always thought the whole fiasco was her fault. Tennis players…Right?

  10. We don't need a new coach!!!! i think true fans understand how far this team has come. We are in a playoff race!! This team was rock bottom and no farm system. Teams like Vegas are not the rule they are exceptions. You have to build and go thru the trials. I believe considering not having 1 generational talent we are doing pretty good. We truly need just little luck and the Yzerplan will be in full effect. Remember Stevie didn't inherit Stamkos and St Louis talents here.

  11. I’m not a fan of the Detroit red wings or Columbus blue jackets but I think Sergei fedorov should couch his former team Detroit red wings it will bring back a reunion to help red wings future to win a Stanley cup

  12. Bringing Sergei back would just be epic! I grew up in the 90s era, skipped final exams to be at both Wings Cup parades, Fed was such a beast. And to have him as a coach, whew! Hockeytown would be ecstatic. Detroit would once again be the team everyone wants to play for
