Bo Horvat Signs 6 Year Extension with the Canucks

This is simply the best news I could get today. Horvat will be a member of the team for a long time to come.

  1. 5.5 mil for the best 2nd line center in the league (Malkin isn't a 2nd line center he would be first line on like 28 other teams) seems decent

  2. Here is hoping we can get a top 2 pick in the draft. I don't care if we get Dahlin or Svechnikov, but it will immensely help our team. Bo's only 22 and has 52 points playing with the likes of Baertschi (no offence to the guy). I don't see Baer in the future with us, but yet again I will always worry about the "chemistry" the 2 have.

    Imagine a line of
    Dahlen – Pettersson – Svechnikov
    – Horvat – Boeser

  3. Juolevi making the team for me is 50/50, I want to see him grow more in the AHL and develop his skill set, but I'd also want to see what he can do in the NHL

  4. I don't get why Eriksson was so terrible. I know he's older, but he was amazing just two seasons ago. If he finds his game, and the Canucks are lucky in some other areas, they could surprise people. This league has a lot of parity, and because of that if a couple things go right you can fly up the standings.

  5. I really like Horvat but he's not gonna be anything like Bergeron. Craig Button said Ryan O'Reilly and I see that much more than I see Bergeron.

  6. He got overpaid. He's a 4.5-5M per year kind of guy. If the Canucks were a contender that's what he would have gotten. They gave him extra to get him to put up with being on a shitty team.

  7. When the new jerseys drop I wanted to buy a Horvat jersey but was hesitant, now I'm excited af!

  8. As a CBJ fan, my initial reaction was the contract should have been on par with Wennberg. Upon further review, for 500k the Canucks are getting a guy who is obviously more of a goal scorer than Wennberg has been thus far. 20G on VAN is more than a solid number last season. Also, Horvat was 3.1% better in the faceoff circle. That's a huge amount in that category and there is definite value in that for VAN. I think both contracts will turn out to be steals in 6 years time and both players to be cornerstones of their teams.
