What is Berggren’s long term fit? | Season on the line again as Detroit heads to Washington

Jonatan Berggren has been reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins, just one NHL game shy of having his waiver eligibility kick in. What is his long term fit with the organization? The Red Wings are headed to Washington with the season on the line…again. With the illness going around the room, will the lineup be whole? #LGRW

  1. Wings don't have it them to make playoffs. I see moments of the capitals on the bench all talking and having fun and u can tell on the ice they really want to win. Wings are so stale on the ice. There's no chemistry or creativity from anyone. Everything looks so forced and difficult for them to do. They have 1 speed of play. There's never a overdrive gear or u can never tell if there ever playing extra hard or giving it there all. They just have 1 speed. And it's seems like cruise control speed. Even if they made playoffs is that how there gonna show up in playoffs??!!!

  2. Berggren is definitely gone next year. I really wish he got more ice time and more games this year but Yzerman just signed one two many forwards. I feel like he will go off with more ice time with another team. I understand his defensive game is not great. I’ve seen so many red wing forwards struggled defensively this year and the majority were veterans who get excused.

  3. Wings need to get rid of the following, and back fill those positions since these players contribute pretty close to zero at both ends of the ice: Veleno, Perron, Copp, Compher, Petry, and a toss up fir Chiarot. Wings should try to keep the following on players and build off their top draft picks—– Kane, Debrincat, Raymond, Maatta, Fischer, Rasmussen, Sprong (toss up), Fabbri (toss up), Edvinnson.. Not a Seider fan, but won't go there at this time.

  4. Double standard: 1/2 the "veteran" forwards play little or no defense and yet Burgers is held to a supposed "standard". I wish him luck in his next organization, he was totally hosed here. No doubt.

  5. Why are we not talking about sprong #17 (88) not being in the lineup? Come on boys stop being silly!!! SE has been amazing but so has sprong this season not his fault players decide to not play defense. All he does is create offense and we scratched him.

  6. Bottom line. Burgers doesn’t fit the 2 way forward profile Yzerman is looking for, and he just doesn’t produce enough offensively to justify having him in the lineup. No doubt, he will be traded in the offseason.

  7. Berggren was a defensive liability during his two game stint. I do hope there's a place for him, and he needs playing time in GR. He's clearly not ready yet.

  8. Unfortunately, he's trade bait. If I was him, there is zero chance I would want to return. He has been given such a small leash and runway it is ridiculous. It sucks because I have a feeling we're going to really sell low on Berggren. My guess is it's a hockey trade for a similar type player who is looking for a fresh change of scenery or a 3rd round pick during the draft.

  9. Bergers played lots of games bc the team NEEDED him to. He’s a great off talent in the AHL, but 3rd line talent in NHL with lousy defensive awareness.

  10. I would be interested to know who you would like to see in the Wings jersey next year and who not.
We have a few players who are getting a new contract. Seider, Rayray, Veleno, Kane … how many years & for how much?
Who would you try to get rid of in the summer?
