Hopefully Joshua is back by time we play them again. I’d be curious to see how we look against them with him in the lineup.
honestly not even that mad, we played a good game for the majority of it.
i feel like the reaction here would be completely flipped if we scored to tie it up.
this game felt like a bunch of lucky bounces
looking at the standing, I don’t mine us losing to the Kings at all. I’d rather play Vegas at this point. Against the Kings in the playoff round sounds already very exhausting.
Honestly, it just feels like we lost the PDO battle tonight
And it seems like it’s been like that for a while? ~~I just checked our record since the New Year and we’re 22-9-5 since then (which is great), but then I checked our PDO during that time frame…~~
~~0.989. Kind of a positive though how we’ve still been winning with that kind of “luck”~~
Edit: Made a mistake, 0.989 PDO since February and we’re 12-8-3 since, which is still kinda positive. 1.014 PDO if we include January
Hronek fighting hard for that 6×6 Instead of 7.5×6
This is what the playoffs will look like, tight checking games, our top 6 needs to show up in games like these.
We were better team tonight but 1 shot in the third until the last five minutes is unacceptable. The Kings play a tight game, and the boys need to adjust and adjust to beat their 1-3-1 system if they ever play in a playoff series
It’s been awhile since we’ve been dicked around by the refs, so really we’ve been lucky.
Well, let’s hope the oilers get the kings in the first round and the oilers make it 3 years in a row
Still looking for that Hughes slash
Random stuff:
– They played quite well most of the game, and got tired at the end of the 2nd which cost us the game. I dont know if it’s a line management thing or a conditioning thing but it’s a very obvious problem imo.
– Hughes is fucking god tier and there was points in this game where i was shaking my head at his skating and positioning. He makes everyone else on the ice look like beer leaguers when he gets in the zone(Jack is no diff).
– There was a vid by hockeypsych i think about dark pads and losing the puck in them. I wonder if that affected DeSmiths play tonight. His puck tracking was off, especially in close.
– Hronek needs to slap the puck like 10x more often.
– I hate desperate line shuffling cause it seems like it would mess with chemistry but it seemed to work this game. Makes me wonder if it’s done often enough that they build off micro changes like that.
Jt post game lol
JT sick of stupid questions AHAHAH love it.
Fuck the Kings – and Doughty
They should really consider putting Myers up on offense for a game lol. If this is the experimenting time of year.
boeser needs to keep skating, lazy af
Win or lose, this was still better that scrolling through the draft lottery sim
Can’t really have too many thinkpieces about a game where 3 of 5 goals went in off skates lol some lucky or brutal bounces both ways.
very different game from being obliterated 5-1 by them last month and I’m happy Podz has been looking great vs playoff teams
If Canucks had their full compliment they would have won
Frankie needs to invest in better ice. Not the reason we lost, but it’s painfully obvious how bad it is.
Missed Lindholm on the dot.
Meh, oh well. Kings will play Edmonton in the 1st round and get smoked. Then we don’t have to watch Trap hockey.
All good. On to the next.
LA fans are acting like they’re best team in the league right now lmao
La plays the most boring hockey ive ever seen holy fuck
Just a reminder that we are 7-2-1 in our last 10 games including this loss.
Last 10 games:
Oilers: 5-3-2
Kings: 7-3-0
Vegas: 6-4-0
Oilers and Kings were made for each other. Oilers high flying offence might be the one thing that can break through and the Kings 1-3-1 may be the only thing able to slow McDavid and co.
good game despite the loss. Nice pushback looked dangerous although a little too late.
Canucks didn’t generate much til the end! At least it was exciting for the 4.5min DeSmith was pulled for
Unrelated question to the game (sorry), but does anyone know how to get player autographs? Do I go to Rogers Arena on a non game-day, park in their parking lot, and try and catch the players as they head out? Or is there an easier way. Cause I really want a Demko autograph (preferably autographs of the whole team, but Demko is my favourite player)
Thanks!
With the state of our forward depth, now more than ever would be a good time to try 7D and see if it’s a viable strategy come playoff time. It’s pretty evident that the team is a lot more comfortable when they have the option to have that L/R balance on all their D pairs, and having an extra D in there ensures no one is overplayed and the pairings stay balanced, as well as allow them all to have defined roles.
My theory on the breakdown on that first goal against is that the wrong guy swapped off. When Myers went off, Cole (listed as 2LD in warmups) jumped on, which likely caused confusion when Hughes came off. This mistake likely doesn’t happen if we have three RD rotating amongst each other.
