The New Jersey Devils slim playoff hopes took a massive hit tonight, they lose to the Ottawa Senators by a score of 5-2 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Overall the team did not look good at all.

Rinse and repeat. Beat a good team, lose to garbage. Another 2 points squandered against a non playoff team. Off the top of my head, it’s gotta be atleast 12 points this season (?) blown against bottom feeders.

I can’t wrap my head around this team and the consistency of their inconsistent play. It’s tiring to watch. Maybe missing the playoffs after last season will be a wake up call to the players (or you would hope). But it can’t and won’t be this group. I’ll be waiting for the offseason for meaningful changes. This team in their current form ain’t it.

As nice as it would be to make the playoffs, they behaved as a seller at the deadline, revealing the expectations of management..I’d rather not make the playoffs than lose to the Rangers in the first round.
The whole team outside of Meier plays like Jack/Luke Hughes. Allergic to contact, doesn't cover anyone in the defensive zone, blind high risk passes, turnovers. Pond hockey. I don't know anyone can think this team is capable of winning even 1 playoff game. Need a Satan of a coach to stop this careless minded hockey
I ended up canceling my trip up to NJ for the season closer on the 15th. I think the only thing the Devils are going to be this season are spoilers. Which they can end up being on 4/15 vs the Islanders.
It’s nice seeing a true Enforcer on the Devils again. Some of these guys owe MacDermid a nice dinner for doing his job and the rest of the team not.
If I have an alcoholic beverage during the game it would just be a Peroni. I only drink the hard stuff on special occasions. Salute

that was probably one of the worst game the devils have played the amount of turnovers and 2 on 1's and breakaways its actually embarrasing Bahl is also terrible we need to get rid of him
What this team is good at is allowing beautiful goals . Some goals from Senators and Coyotes were spectacular .

Marino, he is not good enough to even play in the 50+ veteran tournaments. Hughes brothers is parody duo. Whole defense IS, really. Offence is not that better. Every team had 4 game winning streak this year. Devils cannot get even 2 games in a row consistently. The window opened last year but closed as swiftly as it opened. The tear down is inevitable! The fans must let the owners know about this with their wallets.

This loss was no surprise. Should have kept Hatakka in over Marino or Smith and started Kahkonen in goal… not rocket science by any means. Allen deserved a break this evening against a bottom tier team.
Any old school fans remember 96, Devils had to win the final game of the year to make the playoffs, against an abysmal OTT team, at home ice…lost 5-2
meanwhile Zetterlund scored 2 tonight, 20 on the season. Just watch in 2 years on a better Sharks team he will be 35-40 goal scorer. The amount of young very good players we lost for old ones in the last 3 years is just astonishing

If the Devils miss the playoffs, they will hire Kraken assistant coach Jay Leach as permanent head coach and trade John Marino, Nico Daws, Graeme Clarke, and Michael Vukojevic to the Panthers for Sergei Bobrovsky and a 2024 3rd-rounder to solve goaltending problems.
Bourbon. Usually Knob and, unfortunately, I'm all out. I wanted to see Hatakka out there tonight. I also hope Dermy stays as his presence is needed. I actually panicked a bit when he went back to the locker room. Felt like another game taken over by the refs too. At one point I thought they were playing golf, I must have zoned out and forgot where I was. It's gonna take a miracle, but tomorrow is another day.
This team plays up or down to opponents. They have losses to San Jose, Anaheim 2x, Columbus, Arizona 2x, Montreal, and Ottawa but they have also wins vs Boston, Florida, Vancouver, Dallas, Colorado, Winnipeg, and Vegas. Again, … it's a young team.
20 shots on goal… remember that Fitz said that goal scoring wasn't the problem with this team…
If I were a devils fan I would be concerned about their future. This team looks like they are going to be mediocre for years to come
Marino and Seigs have regressed. Luke has bever given us a reason to believe he can play D and Nemec is young, though likely will be a solid D some day. Not sure about Luke. Our D sucks, Our wings for the most part lacked grit. Fitz traded away some speed. What a mess

MSG was Rocking tonight .Buddy April 3rd is an exhibition game for us Rangers we have bigger thing to worry about then a rebuilding lottery team we have a cup to chase
