It seems like thereās an argument that the later agreement to let them move in 2027 was null and void because it wasnāt back by the necessary authority – legislation probably. But that seems far from certain on how it all gets resolved.

This is political games. Right now, only DC and Monumental (not Puckempire) know the exact language and terms of the lease as to whether they can move the teams and keep leasing for Mystics and concerts.
Look at the language of the DC District Attorney. He’s asking for Monumental to come to the table and talk. Then adds in the threats of lawsuit.

The DCAG is saying that they’re going to try to argue that the lease agreement is broken if he moves the Caps and Wiz out of COA. Ted and his lawyers believe they can keep the lease intact by using COA for other sports and events. If a judge agrees with the DCAG, then Ted will owe DC damages. If they don’t, then he doesn’t. That’s all this is.

The teams arenāt committed to the arena. Monumental simply is committed to their lease and they fully planned on continuing to host other events there. They donāt have to put on caps and wiz games there. This means nothing. Stop spreading this shitty reporting.
