Penguins’ Jack St. Ivany before his NHL debut in Dallas
What’s the feeling right now making your tonight yeah it’s pretty surreal um told me this morning so I’m just really excited can’t wait for tonight yeah any nerves um I’m sure there will be more later in the day now just excitement so you have friends or family coming out uh
Yeah my mom and dad a couple friends are going to make the trip so it’ll be nice to have them here how you tell you anything special or just pretty status quo um yeah pretty status quo um just kind of told me and then I saw my name
On the lineup sheet so um yeah just surreal feeling what’s more nerve-wracking the first shift or the rookie lap oh um yeah I’m not really too sure um probably on both just make sure I don’t fall so what do you hope to provide I mean I know you’ve talked about it previously
If your type of game but what are you hoping to play do out there when you get out there um yeah just stick with my game be solid defensively with uh lety and um kill penalties if I need to block shots get the puck to our forwards um
Yeah that’s about it you’ve played a pretty physical game in wils Bear this season um you know how how different do you think it’ll be to translate that part of your game to the NHL yeah I mean guys are stronger and faster at this level so um
Just got to you know make sure I’m finishing heads keep guys in front of me um I feel like that part of my game will help me um just keeping guys uh pinned to the wall or whatnot keep them outside the center of the ice

Give'm hell Jack! Hopefully this kid can bring some physicality to this soft defense.
