Matt Rempe elbowing on Jonas Siegenthalar – Have your say!
Matt Rempe and questionable hits go hand in hand. This one on Jonas Siegenthalar got him ejected for already the second time in his short career. Suspension coming? Have your say!
I am a big NYR fan. But, this is not the way to make your reputation. Play the right way and be an enforcer at the right time and with the appropriate opponents.
This kid has a screw loose and the league has to stop him before he kills somebody on the ice. If he comes back from the suspension and does something like this again, suspend him for the year (2024-25 that is) and have him go through a year of therapy before being allowed back into the league. He's dangerous to others and himself. If the league continues to allow him to play like this, hopefully MacDermid will put an end to things the next time they meet and the officials had better let him. Enough's enough.
Looks like Rempe was bracing to not take a face full of boards but his elbow hit Seigenthalar where it should not have and Rempe is 100% responsible for where his elbows go at all times, especially if they come up. Given his fast established enforcer reputation 4 games is not surprising.
Well, when you don’t have talent or ability, then you rely on cheap tactics. He won’t last long. Either hockey executives or players will make sure of that.
Siegenthalar stopped right before Rempe hit him. If Siegenthalar kept going at his momentum when he had the puck, it would’ve been a clean hit. But contrary to that statement, Rempe did the chicken wing.
Rempe being so tall is going to have to keep those elbows in cuz his elbows are around head height. 4 game suspension seems right. If he continues these hits then it should go up. I know it's a contact sport but this guy could seriously destroy brains if he runs too amok…gotta learn hit discipline.
Most of these comments don’t account for the real time speed of play. He lined him up and then at the last second the dude tried to not get hit and Rempe was bracing for the boards. I don’t know how they make these calls obviously a penalty but they need to start account for the real time speed of play and not the slow mo 20 angle review. It’s ridiculous. Rempe needs more class after that though the waving thing was uncalled for.

If he keeps giving the other team 5 minute power plays he'll be back in the minors before he knows it.

Obvious ewlbow but also with a lot of momentum and force. Very serious. Player was vulnerable.

Chicken wing for sure. Love the Rangers and have liked Rempe but this is a dirty hit. Suspension is justified.
