As an Islanders and Sabres fan, today was real tough. Really hoping one of the two can make it to the playoffs still, though I'm anticipating disappointment on all fronts.

I like how the Isles have 1 more win than Ottawa and somehow have a very high chance of making the playoffs while Ottawa is way out of it. If they qualify for the playoffs with like 33 wins while other teams winning over half their games miss maybe the NHL will finally do something about the loser points rule.
Bowen Byram has been a real nice pickup for Buffalo.

Sabre's had no puck luck today. Lots of grade A+ chances and nothing going in.
The Red Wings really needed that win. Hopefully they can get back on track after that very costly losing streak.

Has an Islander fan since their inception I am really sick and tired of the crap they are pulling the last 2 years. So many sub standard efforts. They lost 2 in a row before this, and you would figure they would be really be intense for this game. But a 9 minute shot gap against a below average team at home proves their desire. Also not killing penalties when they need it. Lou needed to sell at the deadline and for whatever reason (Him and or Ownership) he did not. I am so sick of his crap speech about he believes in this team. They could still make the playoffs but who cares. They would almost certainly lose in the first round. Thank God I am healthy and have other things to do (like ride my bike 35 miles) so I do not have to see this. BTW Shannon this was an Islander type game. Blow a 3rd period lead and lose in Overtime.
