The New Jersey Devils ended their season on a college campus, losing to the Arizona Coyotes by a score of 4-1 on Saturday March 16th, 2024 at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona.
Another absolutely pathetic and gutting loss for the 2023-2024 NJ Devils.

I want defense this off season. Real defensive minded defensemen. I feel like we ran through so many goalies that could have been great. They got hurt standing on their head for this team, went into surgery, and were never the same.
Jack Hughes is a ghost out there, since his people pay to watch me play has been so unproductive and Bratt too. Both need to step it up big time next season

Every time the devils win a game you can win a fortune on betting against them no matter who they play next. Look when we are on the pk we sit back and let them do whatever they want the other teams knows to pressure us and Hughes and Hughes will turn it over

Didn't even bother 2 show up!! Would've been better off staying in the hotel.

The goalie that will replace him yaroslav askarov was drafted after Holtz. But i guess we didn't need goaltending back in 2020😂😂
Why can’t they play hot goalie in consecutive games ? If he’s not ready it will be obvious in the first period . Well … why do I even care at this point ?
Pathetic loss. They should all be ashamed that this was the effort for a game against a bottom team while they are chasing the last WC spot(regardless of the odds).
Played myself today by not stocking up on surfside today thinking it would be an easy must win game… even more shocked Allen did not start today. Roster and management needs a shakeup next season

If the Devils can overcome their power play woes and win at least 12 of the final 15 games, they are in the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row, hoping to become the 1st wild card team ever to win the Stanley Cup.
Trade for GOALIE and a couple defenseman. At this point, Graves would be better than whats back there. His stock is low at the moment. Is chychrun (spelling) available? We need 2 solid dman back there and a Saros/Ullmark/Markstrom. However i dont like the price on markstrom. Too high for a 35 year old. Im 36 so no hate lol
Same thing all year. Every seemingly meaningful win has been followed by a brutal loss. And they can't beat the bad teams. San Jose, Anaheim 2x, Montreal, Columbus, Arizona, three losses to Washington, etc. If they win even half of those games, they might be in a playoff spot.
And the team defense has to be a bigger issue than the goaltending. It's way too easy to get this team running around like headless chickens in the D zone. I've never seen a team so bad at simply clearing the puck. It's always a "hope" play. The no-look pass by DeSimone to the middle of the ice was so egregiously dumb I actually laughed out loud watching the replay. You could put Markstrom or Saros in there, it's still a 4-1 loss.
12:00 I wouldnt call Tatar a depth he had 50 points with Devils and also played with Hischier or Hughes lot of times
This team is cooked i wish it was just some better defensive play but there offense is looking worse and worse… jack hughes a great player its really hard to watch him try to skate thru 3 ppl and lose the puck or give zero percent effort to get a puck anywere near a wall..
This season has been horrific and it’s safe to say that’s it’s officially over. That being said, don’t lose hope for the future of this team! This (early) summer needs to be big for a lot of guys, and it NEEDS to be big for fitz, but the future is bright in jersey!! This team is extremely young and this past season will be a learning experience for the guys. The season was over a long time ago, and that’s ok. It absolutely sucks and it’s very disappointing, but this is just one year. Like I said, the future is bright. Go devils
I am still not worried. This season is good because it will lead to us getting a goalie. There is no way in hell Fitz says he’s getting a number one in the summer then doesn’t without getting fired.
I think there’s more going on in the room than anything. Lazar seemed very pissed in his interview today.
Ulmark/Saros (a 1st an maybe a prospect should do the job), Hanifen, Buchnevich. It's a tall order but it isn't impossible (worry about the cap hits later on, everyone else seems to make the numbers work). That plus the return of Dougie, less injuries in general, the rookies stepping up. Maybe add a few grit players to the bottom six as well but I think the above is mostly fine. Biggest thing is to just CLEAR THE COACHING STAFF … a reset, a fresh start for everyone. Coach + culture first. Then the above. We'll be alright, fam….

I'm ok with almost all the moves Fitzy has made…the one I can't forgive though is not keeping Barnett and firing Ruff in the last off-season… Barnett has a winning team wherever he goes, he's the reason we were a winning team last year and him being gone is why we are garbage this year…if Fitzy doesn't bring in a real coach this off-season then at that point he's got to go and I don't say that lightly
