  1. Lafreniere is the same 2nd line player he has been his entire career. He's getting better line mates and more offensive zone starts.

  2. His strengths have never been physical. And that’s always hard when you enter a league like this that’s so demanding physically. Now that he’s gotten used to the speed and size he can finally show his strengths which is easily his handling and shot and most impressive his IQ. He sees the ice really well and his plays surprise me every day. Really nice to see him grow.

  3. I'd rather have physical players like Kakko and Laffy then Bedard type players who are soft and get injured all the time. Rangers are building a Stanley Cup team not a superstar player who score 60 goals a year.

  4. It has been great to see the developmenbt this year. A major item limiting his point production is his lack of time on the power play. With a first unit of Fox, Panarin, Kreider, Zibanijead, and Trouchek, who would Lafreniere replace that would allow him to maximize his skill.

  5. Lav is the difference. Gallant inspired nothing from any of the players. In fact, he created the opposite. Lav inspires the players. They want to do better under his leadership.

  6. The game is definitely slowing down for Laffy…helps having Bread and Troch as mentors as well. Some of those pull back moves he is utilizing are very bread like.

  7. Loving the development of Laffy! I give Peter Laviolette a lot of credit for sticking with him and allowing him to play with Trocheck and Panarin. Paying dividends for the team and his future.

Please stick with Kakko though, I still could see him developing into a really good NHL player. He’s got the hustle and strength… just needs to find his rhythm and the line mates he works best with.

    LGR!

  8. This is my foray into this channel and I was saying to myself "Man, these guys look familiar to me." And then the lightbulb went off and said "Holy shit, that's Brian Boyle and Corey Schneider." Quickly followed by "Holy fuck I'm old, I remember when they were both rookies in the NHL."

  9. Not to mention, the amount of posts he’s hit and gotten absolutely robbed by some incredible saves, his numbers could be much higher than they are.

  10. Lafreniere's skating has improved tremendously, with the work he put in over the summer. That was a big difference maker. His pace is more natural and fits the league

  11. Insane season so far from him… also snakebitten as hell with the amount of daylight robberies i've seen.. hitting posts or completely making an amazing "SHOULD BE" assist only for his teammate to completely whiff the easiest goal of his life. If he wasn't so unlucky this season he'd already have 10-15 more points than what he is currently sitting on which would be absurd numbers considering he gets 0 PP time (Which at this point is a fucking joke how Zibanejad is still on the PP ahead of Lafreniere)

  12. The only time Laf was noticeable in past seasons was when he was on the scoresheet. This season he is noticeable when he’s on and off the score sheet. Games where he doesn’t score a point he still has a major impact on the game.

  13. And he has been getting a ton of high scoring opportunities, and he’s just missing … it shows his hockey IQ is great, knows where to be on the ice and now it’s only a matter of time before a lot of those chances start cashing in

  14. The only thing missing are goals. He's had chances but they aren't going in. That'll come. He'll probably be a 40 goal scorer. Not this year but in the near future. I think he's ahead of Kovalev at this point in his career.
