Who should be the Leafs’ top line LW in playoffs?

With only two goals in his last eight games, Auston Matthews can be considered to be in a mini-slump. At his peak, Matthews was on pace for a 76-goal season but this quiet stretch has rolled back that number. Can he still get 16 more goals in the final 18 games of the regular season to reach 70? How crucial is it for the Leafs to find him help on the wing before the playoffs? TSN Hockey analyst Mike Johnson weighs in.

  1. For Leaf regular season games – leave Marner with Matthews. Matthews has about one goal in the last five games. Goal scorers often play the wing not centre. Why not move Auston to the wing?

For Leaf playoff games – Marner and Matthews disappear (they belong on Milk Cartons as missing persons) according to Gretzky. So why play them together in the post season? 😀

  2. It won't matter who is on what line. The Leafs will be toast after the first round and that's coming from a long suffering, since 1967, Leafs fan.

  3. No the problem is at the end of the season things get tight and Mathews has to shoot from farther out because he can't get in close like Tavares because Mathews is a talented figure skater with a good shot.
