@Carolina Hurricanes

I had to shower after watching this

Frederick Andersen made an unbelievable save on Monday night as they Carolina Hurricanes completely worked over the Calgary Flames. That and more in today’s NHL Hockey video!

  1. Freddie and Petr will share playoff duties and Martin will back them up in case of injury. Martin is a legit goalie in his own right…..

  2. As a canes fan, play Freddie in the playoffs. Kochetkov has been shaky in his postseason games and Freddie was one of the best goalies in the playoffs last year, it wasn't his fault the canes lost. If he keeps this up and Guentzel is a fit, this team will be a tough out

  3. Respect to Vladar, he also made some great saves in this one but was completely alone on the ice. The fact he played well combined with the final score should tell you how bad the team play was overall from the flames here. As for your question, I think you have to evaluate how well Andersen is playing overall to see if he edges out the starter spot, no matter what Kochetkov should be playing as 1B since he's been a top 5 goalie since january. I think most likely is Kooch 1A, Freddie 1B in the playoffs but that could change over the final stretch of the regular season.

  4. This save was just mix of luck and determination, no need to overthink this, if you compare it to what Hasek used to do intentionally all the time, its really nice but not that impressive

  5. I say keep playing both of them and ride the hottest hand into the playoffs, whomever that may be. Even after a loss tonight, Pyotr looked pretty damn impressive, though I haven't forgotten about his game-losing error against Winnipeg…

  6. Some of the greatest saves are just a desperate move and a prayer that they'll be in the way. This was tracked with intention and deflected exactly how he wanted to go. Remarkable save.

  7. Granted the shot was going a mile wide, that's still amazing athleticism and good to see that he's still got it in him.

  8. Freddie just reaches back with the paddle in desperation, I'm not seeing any particular athleticism, and the puck's shot into the stick rather than him really managing to actively grab an area of the net with it (and that's thinking the puck would've been going in). I'd rank this like 2nd best at most on any week of the year.
