Tortorella refuses to leave after being ejected… we’ll talk abou tall that and more on today’s NHL hockey video! #hockey #nhl #philadelphiaflyers #tampabaylightning
All sports college and pro have ref problems. But the NHL might be the worst. Between the game just being fast and how it's played and the fact the rule book completely changes in the playoffs. What was a slash or cross check or a trip during the regular season is now not, unless sometimes maybe but we're definitely not calling anything including murder in the last 5 minutes and OT in the playoffs.
I hate when people say things like, "The refs have no accountability." Believe me, there are things that happen behind closed doors when an official screws up. And nobody feels worse about it than they do when they get it wrong. They're human beings. They make mistakes. And they do their best to never make the same mistake again.
Something needs to be done about the officials in this league, instead Bettman suspends Torts and fines him 50k?!?! I love how the CEO of the flyers pretty much gave the middle finger to Bettman by paying the fine lol
Wes didn’t want to talk to him cause he knew he was wrong, those calls he made were complete garbage, the moment torts points it out Wes has a power trip and boots him. There’s bad reffing and then there’s legitimate power tripping, Wes should be held accountable
Nah, I don't agree at all. The Flyers were getting their asses handed to them. Torts is losing his damn mind. That is clear as day. The refs will allow some heat, but it only goes so far. Once they had enough, they kicked him out. Doesn't matter what he said, it was clear he was heated. The thought that the refs have to justify their action when it's all right there is ridiculous.
Eh, demanding the Referrers/Umpires explain themselves is the false gasp of trying to insert "Democracy" everywhere that it serves no purpose. The Official are TheRuleBook in person, and you need to hash all this out with their Unions, who are the ones to isolate them from grasping attempts at 'accountability'
Offenses against officials should not result in a power play for the other team. It is blatantly unfair. 10s and games, okay, obviously. But you can't justify giving a power play to a team who didn't earn it or draw it.
No chance I would EVER pay ANY amount of money because of someone else's fuck up. These refs are fucking scumbags and cheaters, fuck em. I would be as disrespectful as possible EVERY night.
The owners are the only ones that could say something about the officiating and possibly a change. oh and Wes Mccauley is a POS, worst ref i've seen in ages.
As a Leaf fan I'm absolutely shocked that your call for more referee accountability hasn't been dismissed with the counter argument "cry".
Kidding, that's not a shock at all because the fine line between trying to make the league better and whining about a call comes down to what colour jersey the guys have on.
Not a Torts fan, the guy is a clown but that said, McCauley was obviously emotional when he announced the ejection. He obviously let something creep into that decision so I think there was some bias in this that shouldnt have been there

Torts was a fucking legend back then and its phenomenal to see he still is

MLB has the same issue: zero accountability for the umpires.
Let's start a petition to get McCauley banned from the NHL
Nah, Torts is a ****ing child. I swear he was whining about this exact thing when it was another team. When he does it he's a hero though.
I hate your click bait titles

Flyers CEO screwed up by saying that publically. Its possible there wouldnt have been a suspension tacked on had he stayed quiet.
Did you see the 2 "penalties"?

One thing I've never seen before is an NHL coach wearing a zipper sweater. Is that a knew thing?
Refs wanna be like umpires and toss coaches out on a whim

NHL refs xD most stupid ppl on planet no doubt and every day situation is escalating
Tortalini is trash.
Need more coaches getting involved, it's so much nicer for the fans and sport

Abolish qualified immunity
$50k fine to a coach and $5k to numerous players this year … what’s up with that?
nice

Wes is full of himself. Him and Angel Hernandez must be getting drinks all the time.
I always liked Wes McCauley, but he looked bad tonight. Now he's just another ref that sucks.
NHL is becoming a complete sham. What an embarrassing league.
Wes McCauley is a dick…glad Tort's gave him shit!
$50k? That's like 10 slewfoots. What a ripoff.
Players get less penalty for dangerous, slimey hits. Unreal

Love Torts and that the team has his back

NHL is the weakest of all the major leagues. Why they’re last and consistently suck major ducks
Joke officials sent by a joke league
NHL has softer refs then MLB umpires
50k fine for disagreeing with refs? Yeah, thats way too much.
the problem is we have beer league refs in a professional league broadcasted worldwide . Fire Wes
They lost their goalie and they aren't going anywhere anyway!
