Then the most important five game road trip that will decide if they’re in it or not. I think the caps can make the playoffs. They really have a shot. Ovechkin has to deliver top notch play along with Wilson and the youngsters. It may happen. If caps get in they will be dangerous in round 1.
Dowd & Pacioretty I think there was a lot of interest in both of them. Then the Kuznetsov deal materialized very quickly. With retention already in place for Mantha and Edmundsson, that spent our last retention slot. FLA probably only wanted MacPac with full retention, so they went with Okposo instead. Dowd had a year left so there was never a risk of losing him for nothing.
Kuznetsov I think it was the right move to trade him. With a projected cap increase of about 4 million next season, that creates almost 8 million in cap space to be weaponized next season.
Lindgren I think there were a lot of goalies being dangled at the deadline, which oversaturated a market that was already leaning pretty heavily in favour of the buyers.
I like the Caps moves. We needed to clear up some cap space and get younger. I appreciate what Kuznetsov did for this team to help us win a Cup but he needed a change of scenery. I wish him the best and hope he stays clean. I was kind of hoping for more but this was a weird trade deadline and there just might not have been as much interest as we thought.
we kept hardworking veteran character guys , now add exciting youth ,i think the caps have a clean bill of health now and will just have fun jelling,may even make playoffs, i like were we ended and who we kept , great job caps, the ceiling for this team is unknown but will be exciting to see imo.
I think Capitals did a phenomenal job this deadline. They moved MASSIVE contracts and players that were not performing up to snuff and got picks for players they couldn't give away in the off season. And all of that while keeping key players that are over performing and absolutely killing it this year, keeping themselves in a legitimate play off race. I'm actually glad they didn't trade dowder or Lindy (I think we keep them until they're done playing honestly) and I appreciate that Patches chose to stick to it with the Caps. I really do think he's more valuable than some Caps fans think in a playoff race and in the rounds. Let's. Go. Caps.
Watching the game against the Pens really made me thankful for our GM..the Pens went all in to get Karlsson last summer, including shipping out their 2024 first round pick. Then they miss the playoffs. They would’ve had a top ten pick coming their way. Yikes..

The rebuilt has started like 2000. Go younger and many draft picks. Hope get guys like Green who was late 1st round pick. They got from a trade.

Imo I think we should keep the picks for the future and be patient about it this team needs to embrace the rebuild
