You guys obviously how tough Syracuse has been as an opponent over the years and especially this season how big is it to to get a win over them yeah um I mean a win is nice uh a regulation win would have been even better but um you know
You take you take what you you get and two points is two points for us so you know you can’t worry about opponents um and we’re happy with coming away with a win today for sure uh ABS was talking about physical engagement tonight felt that you guys were a lot better on that
Side especially against a team that likes to play Heavy um how did you see it yeah um absolutely I think we responded to apps challenging us to uh ramp our game up um you know he told us and and we know it’s it’s coming down in the wire it’s coming down to playoff
Time and um you know it’s going to it’s just going to keep increasing physicality intensity every game um uh and if we can dictate that um with our own game our own physicality early on uh it puts us in a better spot uh to win games as well
You with the two goals tonight are you at your best when you’re making a home in that blue paint getting them for another goal TI like that yeah absolutely uh I mean you got to go to the dirty areas to score goals sometimes and uh they’re not all going to be you
Know breakaways so uh you got to get to like I said to the dirty areas and um that was uh sometimes you just got to put your stick down for for one of the young guys to to hit your back door so that’s how that one worked out and yeah
Happy for it how was it playing with the two young guys tonight oh it’s great um I mean uh those uh some some very skilled players uh you know they think the G the game uh they make amazing plays and and uh like I said you know I was fortunate
Enough to to to be on their receiving end of of a great back door pass from from Rosie on the power play um but not only that like uh you know I trust these guys and obviously they’re great they’re great hockey players um and they’re still young too
They’re uh they got a lot of a lot of upside and I enjoyed playing with them tonight so how much have you seen those two grow throughout the season with how much up and downs especially lately those two have had yeah um I mean like I said they’re they’re young and they got
A lot of time but uh where they’re at right now is is you know credit to them and and the work that they put in um they’re both unbelievable players you know they they the duo reminds me of uh like a Quinn and petka um two unbelievably skilled talented players
That I think you know are are excelling at this level and and when they get their shot they’ll excel at the next level too I I believe in that and you know they’re they’re great kids and um I love them just as much in the the locker room as seeing them do their
Thing on the ice so does this one give you guys a bunch of confidence going into Syracuse Tom meet them again yeah absolutely um you know it seemed like they kind of had our number for a little bit there um but when you play a team 12
Times like we do every single year sometimes it just goes that way and um yeah it’ll it’ll give us uh a little bit of boost a little confidence boost to to go in there and do the same thing tomorrow and take another two points looks like team
Te yeah um you know I don’t know if it’s strictly down to the the older guys with the leadership in the room and um definitely helps to have guys like prow and and Mery um and tarki and guys that have been there and done it uh to to sort of ease
A transition and you know I haven’t been part of a trade anything like that uh but uh you know I’ve been in this organization for a long time so you know hopefully if he has any questions or or any uh you know anything really that
That you know I trust I could go to any guy in the locker room for anything um and I think the role of of the leadership group is to make sure that he knows that as well and that he he you know like I said can go to anyone
Because I I believe I truly believe that no no I think he’s been in he’s been in the league for a little bit so or a couple years so he’s he’s all right going back to your first goal you were able to get on the board early and
Set the tone how important is it to get that first goal early yeah absolutely uh I mean the first goal is uh it’s big for a lot of things uh one is momentum um you know I think we were playing really really well even up to that point I know was early
On the in the period but um it’s nice to see you know a reward for the way the team is playing and it just uh it just kind of you know makes sure that we keep playing that way we’re going to keep getting rewarded we can can keep scoring
Goals and you know it’s back and forth but uh to have an early lead put you out in front definitely uh makes you a little more comfortable
