These generally aren’t unsold tickets, they’re tickets that belong to season ticket holders who aren’t attending the game. Some you might find on the secondary ticket sites but the ticket holder may have them on for too much money to get them sold or posted them too late.

Fast forward to modern day, these seats are probably held by businesses and the richrich. Still, it is not worth it to the team to devalue these seats for when the arena does sell out and also piss off richrich when they find out they are sitting next to people who spent a boatload less.

Years ago I heard if the team just sold out the club seats and every luxury suite they would break even for the game regardless of the rest of the arena

Don’t forget those seats have access to the club lounges with a full bar, their own bathrooms, tables and food. Add in the corporate seats and people entertaining clients and the bar area usually has people in it all game. Personally whenever I sit there I take advantage of the easy drink/food/bathroom access but otherwise my butt is in the seat.

Think of it this way: the Devils are in business to sell seats, adverts, merchandise and sponsorship. They will adjust prices and packages to maximize revenue in each category. (If not, change out the sales and marketing department!)
So – those central seats are priced to maximize revenue to the club, driven by mostly corporate supply and demand.

They’re club seats. People stay in the lounges/clubs. It’s typically corporate/business tickets, so not necessarily hard core hockey fans, but they’re used more often than not. And if they’re not, it’s a fine line, because the air of exclusivity is part of the selling point.

As someone who’s been lucky enough to sit in those seats it’s normally because the ticket has been sold to a season ticket holder and then they don’t come to that game. I sat there twice this year and the seats fill up more than you would think but at intermissions everyone is up enjoying the food and desserts they offer.

Literally my STH section lmao. Most of the time I’m in the lounge eating food but to say they’re empty is kinda crazy. Feels like there’s always a good amount of people around me.
The STH are there most of the time but recently I’ve noticed (personally and some of my seat neighbors too) we can’t sell our tickets at a decent price (relative to what we pay) so if we can’t make it to the game they remain empty.
